Dan Thompson
I write science fiction novels, specifically the sub-genre of "space opera". My audience is sci-fi readers who enjoy a good adventure.
I want to design a new book cover for an existing book. The title is _Beneath the Sky_. You can see the existing cover on my website here:

The book centers on a father and daughter who live on a large colony ship that is hollow on the inside, spinning around to get gravity. If you ever saw the show Babylon 5, that’s the interior shape of this place.
Here are a few other images that give you that kind of curved-interior sense:

Note that it’s the interior of a tube, not the interior of a ring. That is, *not* the following:

I’d like a cover that captures that kind of interior scene, showing how these people live without a real sky, only the rest of their colony “above” them on the other side. If possible, avoid an on-axis shot with all of that radial symmetry, but something askew like I have now. The interior ground should something like a city with a lot of parks and green spaces. I don’t particularly care about showing these two characters on the cover, but if you think it makes the design stronger, go for it.
I want space at the top for the title and space at the bottom for my name. I can handle the typography myself, but if you have something special in mind for the typography, feel free to impress me. However, keep the title on top and the name on bottom.
The physical edition will be 8.5 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide, so that’s the aspect ratio I want.
