I need an ebook cover and a print book cover for a historical fiction novel set in fin-de-siecle Vienna (Austro-Hungarian Empire) in 1902 about Lina Loos (first wife of architect and designer Adolf Loos). The writing and book design would be comparable to "The Girl with the Pearl Earring" or "Water for Elephants." The front cover could include the following: Font for author name (KC Blau) like the Wiener Werkstätte - ITC Rennie Mackintosh http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/linoty…eview.html
Font for title (Women and Wild Savages) could be like:
Kolo Font since Kolomon Moser was also in Vienna at this time and dominated the scene: http://www.fonts.com/font/letterper…?SiteId=15
Cover design could integrate painting like Jean Jacques Henner's La Lisause or something similar and background could use the white fur bedroom photo that Loos designed for Lina. Something on the front should indicate "Vienna Muses" since this is book one of a series. An entirely different kind of representative cover could be a Wiener Werkstaette version of an antique bird cage with birds escaping (she compares herself to a bird in a bird cage in the book who doesn't even realize she has wings).
The book is a kind of "Bildungsroman" of a young woman who was considered beautiful and sexy. Adolf Loos said he wanted to shape his wife like clay. She marries him but stifled under his controlling behavior, falls in love with a young man her age and this affair ends tragically. Artists in Vienna that dominated the turn of the century were Klimt, Schiele, Kolomon Moser, Josef Hofmann, etc. Much of the book takes place in Cafe Central. The b&w photo of the girl in the chair is Lina Loos but I would not necessarily need to include her actual old photo. The book is a kind of romance/women's rights mix. My sample cover (novice, I know) show a woman naked (sexy and vulnerable) but not showing any forbidden parts (decent), and reading a book (smart). Lina Loos was blonde with emerald eyes. I like the facial expression of Schiele's "kauerendes Maedchen" which is why I included it here. Franz von Stuck's piece of artwork is too revealing but I like the light and dark contrast and the show of her torso.
