Create an eBook cover for 'The Outsider Tales'

I write books! The target audience is readers of speculative fiction. Book readers in general.

I'm looking for an ebook cover for 'The Outsider Tales'. The Outsider Tales is a collection of five short stories. These stories are all about society's black sheep - that is, the weirdos, the losers, and the indescribables who don't fit in.

The overall theme is one of isolation. The main characters in each of the five stories have been cast adrift of regular society in one way or another. These are people who have ultimately failed to fulfil their potential in life.

Bearing this in mind, I'd like the cover to convey a certain mood: the loner, isolation, and so on - BUT without being too depressing! Experiment as much as you like - it's usually the most experimental/innovative ideas that catch my eye.

Please feel free to be as creative as you want. But I'm looking for something genuinely artistic and that I can tell has had some thought behind it. I've attached a couple of images that I like - you don't have to replicate these, it's just to give you an idea of the kind of style I like.

If I constantly rate the work as low, don't take it personally. We're probably going after two different things, that's all. But I don't always have time to write feedback - I'll only do that for designs that I think might work.
