Nethermost is a book in the Judeao-Christian and Mormon traditions about how God works miracles in the "nethermost" or lowest points of our lives. When we are discouraged, sad, cast down, despised, rejected, hurt, sick, dying, misunderstood, persecuted--those the rock-bottom moments of life. It is then, in the nethermost times, that the Atonement of Jesus Christ operates.
Nethermost includes stories of dozens of men and women from many walks of life and from many parts of the world and in many time periods, who experienced miracles in lowly places.
The cover should be vivid, memorable and evoke a feeling of both lowness, of lowly conditions, but also of hope. See examples of book covers we like below. One idea would be to show a valley enshrouded in fog. We rather like the feeling and the typography of the Paulo Coelho novels referenced below, so something similar may be a good option. See also Creative Commons photographs we like. But, we are open to other ideas.
This book will be published in both paperback format (6 by 9 inches with a spine width of 0.629 inches or 15.977 mm). Ingrams will print the physical book--see template attached, including ISBN number, barcode, etc.
Because the book will be in both print and electronic format, readability in ALL formats is essential. We will be looking carefully at visual impact at the e-book thumbnail level, and at the gray-scale Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite level.
Typography is important, and we rely on the designer to find the right palate and balance in typography.
