When I think about this book, I imagine my book cover to be a magical book sectioned off into three different parts sealed off all parts with separate golden clasps. During the ritual, these Vampires are a part of, they use certain elements (tools) to the ritual that perform different magical feats. The Black Dagger that is used primarily for the ritual only fits into the top cup of the book's cover. It is made up of hardened leather, and when the ceremony performed, by each member giving a blood sacrifice collected in the cup the leather becomes soft and penetrable. The Black Dagger thrust into the cup starts the magical ceremony. Then cobra snakes grow from the blood surrounding and protecting the Dagger from being removed.
I was thinking on the cover of the book there could be the book of Isis laying flat on a table or the pedestal of the ritual with the Black Dagger encased in the top cup either tangled in bone or with the Cobras surrounding the Black Dagger. The book of Isis, the Black Dagger, need to look really close to how I describe them in the text below. I do not want to deviate from the description or have a different interpretation of it.
In my Vampire book, the Vampire Coven is called the Blue Coven. The blue is for the blue energy of the star Sirius which is the star of the Goddess Isis.
There is an old magic book that is the book of the goddess Isis. Through this book and some key elements they can perform a ritual that will turn them into Vampires once per year (on New Years) for only 24 hours. Giving them indescribable powers. A total of twelve members, ever pursuing that high, which promises them youth, beauty, strength, and power. Each commanded until death, to be a part of this Coven and ritual. A ritual that will continue to search for its next victim -- a sacrifice ordained from another world. And a death commanded by a god of the heavens (Isis), to sweep the earth and give blood as sacrifice for her one true love (Osirus). The book description here in my text direct from my book The Vampire game:
The book of Isis was laid out in the middle of the table. The dagger still deep in its belly, imprisoning it in a tangled vine of bone. Pictured on top of its smooth, brown surface, were numerous otherworldly symbols in vibrant hues that bordered the cover's edges. The symbols were of dragons and other mythical creatures. The hardcover was made up of thick leather making it durable for all eternity. The cover had a row of three shallow cups, split evenly from top to bottom. All three wreathed with ancient looking calendars. The top cup occupied by the Black Ritual Dagger -- still locked in place. The difference between the three cups was their inner linings. The cup occupied by the Black Ritual Dagger lined with thick dark leather. During the Ritual, the leather softened as each member gave a sample of their blood, making it penetrable. The flesh in the cup was made alive by each member's gift of blood. The second and third cups were both lined with copper. Peculiar were the slots that lay directly in the middle, and at the bottom of these last two cups. Then there were the contents of the book, divided into three sections, separated by multiple gold clasps and locks. At the beginning of these sections were plates of gold, like giant bookmarks sectoring it into volumes. The rest of the book's contents consisted of thick sheets of paper.
During the ritual, Victoria walked to the middle where Benton stood, adjacent to a tall white marble column, where the book of Isis lay flat, in anticipation of the Ritual. "Could I have each of you come up one by one, and give a small blood sacrifice to the Goddess Isis?"
Then within a minute, he watched as the blood in the cup on the book transformed into long formidable Cobra snakes. Each guarding the Dagger, hissing and striking at anyone who would attempt to remove it from the book. The Cobras would then stay in their flesh state until the Ritual had concluded. At that point, they transformed once again, but this time into a hard bony substance, continuing to guard the dagger, sealing the weapon up in the book.
Imbedded solid in the top of the Dagger's handle was a translucent crystal. During metamorphosis, the Dagger drew a portion of the vital fluid from the cup, infusing and soaking its clear structure blood-red. With each passing minute, the crystal begins to light up brighter and brighter.
During the Ritual, after metamorphosis, the blood sacrifice given by all twelve members of the Coven would grow around the book and dagger encasing it, then hardening to a solid, bone tangled mass. It's important the dagger not be pulled from the book during metamorphosis otherwise the Vampire state departs, returning them to their normal human bodies. The book stays sheathed in it boney dungeon until the harvest moon when it unlocks, and the tangled bone turns to dust. The Harvest Moon is nine and a half months past the Ritual. It then unravels its grasp, in preparation for the next ritual.
The dagger looked more like a tent stake with four equal blades that connected in the middle, growing thinner to a fine point at the tip. It was a star-shaped key.
Then for the back cover I want an envelope that is described in my Vampire book. It has a wax stamped insignia.
The finish on the paper of the invitation was like cashmere, rich and elegant. It had a smooth creamy-white surface, with perforated edges, and a blood-red wax dagger surrounded by a cobalt blue ring of wax. This wax stamp was the insignia of the elite group, sealed in colored wax on the flap of the envelope.
I don't really want to deviate from the description here of the invitation for the back cover of the book either. There are possibilities of blood on the dagger, blood in the cup that the dagger is occupying. No skulls on the cover please.
All in all, the book of Isis could either be encased in bone or the Cobra snakes. I think whatever you come up with pertaining either would be cool. Also, the ritual is going to be in Toronto Canada on New Years night starting at midnight and lasting 24 hours.
