I am writing my first book called You are already free! It is about spirituality and guides the reader through a journey, experience and eventually realisation that they are already free. At the start of the book there are points and exercises to challenge our perception of who we are. I originally started the book with the intention of writing a book about how to transform your life in 30 days. But as I continued writing I realised it was taking the form of my higher self or soul calling and inspiring me to live from my true essence, my divine self that is always already free! As the reader reads the book they gain realisations about their true nature and have experiences of being already free.
My target audience is the self help and spirituality sector. Also it is for those who feel they are in a place or situation they can’t get out of and have given up hope. I have come from this place after being in my own personal hell and depression for over four years and at the point of having no hope or thinking there is no way back.
Wat inspireert je en hoe stel je je het ontwerp van jouw onderneming voor?
The cover of my book designed; the title of the book is You are already free
I want You are already free on the front, preferably at the top, but I am open to different options. Below that is a bird cage, but the right side of the bird cage has disappeared (I don’t want a clean cut of the cage in half but just the effect of the right side disappeared and not a straight cut). In its place is a small bird (a starling, the image is in attachment) flying from left to right.
The colour of the book is a sky blue, but again I am open to different options or colours you may feel are more striking. The reason I was thinking sky blue is for the reader to have the feel of the bird flying free in the sky.
The spine of the book says You are already free. At the bottom of the spine it has the image of a set of handcuffs. The reason for this is in relation to a future company I plan to have and I use the handcuffs in the book as a metaphor for how we get put into handcuffs through family, environment and society. But in the end I guide the reader to and experience and realisation of the handcuffs being an illusion and they are already free. This also ties in with the free bird being locked up in a cage that doesn’t exist.
On the back cover I want the following wrote:
I don’t know what is the biggest crime, to lock up a beautiful free bird of paradise in a cage or to convince the bird that the cage even exists!
At the bottom of the back cover:
By Ryan Doherty
I want it to catch readers eye and attention and to draw them in to want to know more. As they see it I want them to have the feeling of wow and intrigue!
The bird has to be eye catching which is why I choose the image of the starling in the attachment. The bird has to be flying from left to right. It doesnt have to be exactly the same as the one in the attachment, but I love the vivdness of it and the colours, also the detail you can see on the wings etc. For me it is wow and it see this on a cover im going to want to know more or take a closer look.
The little quote I wrote for the back is again to create wow and intrigue, leaving the reader to want to know more, whilst at the same time keeping them in suspense.
