I need a visually engaging cover for my eBook: Share Your Genealogy Research with Video: A Get Started Guide for Making Family History Movies
My design values:
I am very open to suggestions and creative ideas, but below are some ideas and examples of things I like or visual concepts that I am thinking about. I’m trying to avoid the “tree” visual (as in family tree). The point of genealogy video is not to show a chart but to tell a story and draw someone into the world of their ancestors.
MUSTS: Title text MUST be clear. The cover MUST look good as a thumbnail, with the main title being clear.
I like light colored text over a darker or rich color image, but as long as title text is clear, it's ok. Photos used would need to be royalty free with a reasonable licensing fee. I would like to include my small VideoGenealogy.info logo at the bottom of the cover, but that is optional or could use the website name in text rather than logo form.
See attached logo along with other examples of covers and examples of types of visuals that might work in the cover.
I have lots of ideas swirling in my head. Please help by creating a great book cover. Here are my ideas:
-Something that combines vintage or retro images with current ideas like an iPad, laptop. (Think Trader Joe's circular-vintage illustrations with people holding Starbucks type coffee cups or modern items.) But I’m also open to more abstract images.
-Archival photograph of 19th century person, slightly off center on cover to allow for title text over darker or lighter area of photo.
-19th century photo of group scene or obviously 19th century setting with title text over darker area.
More complicated ideas:
-A retro ad illustration (1930s-1950s) looking amazed at what they are seeing on their television.
-Contrast of 1890s ladies looking at an iPad.
-Or photo shop a current grandparent with child or teen watching a video on laptop or iPad, somehow surrounded by a 19th century setting (either a vintage photo or etching.)
-Or an over-shoulder- of current family members looking at a historic video on screen.
-Well photographed over-the-shoulder shot of laptop screen displaying movie making software with 19th century photo or scene in video imaging window. With hand on keyboard.
Using my title and concept of book, come up with a graphic
