* The Book *
We are publishing a new audiobook called "The Secret History of Star Wars" and we need a great cover!
The book traces the storytelling roots of the Star Wars series, and unveils how George Lucas took a simple concept and expanded it into a phenomenon that changed the face of movie-making forever.
* Book Summary *
Here's the summary from the publisher:
"Star Wars is one of the most important cultural phenomena of the Western world. The tale of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker has become modern myth, an epic tragedy of the corruption of a young man in love into darkness, the rise of evil, and the power of good triumphing in the end. But it didn’t start out that way.
In this thorough account of one of cinema’s most lasting works, Michael Kaminski presents the true history of how Star Wars was written, from its beginnings as a science fiction fairy tale to its development over three decades into the epic we now know, chronicling the methods, techniques, thought processes, and struggles of its creator. For this unauthorized account, he has pored through over four hundred sources, from interviews to original scripts, to track how the most powerful modern epic in the world was created, expanded, and finalized into the tale an entire generation has grown up with."
* The Specs *
The audiobook cover should be 8" by 8" in dimension. If using Photoshop, please use 300 dpi for a 2400x2400 resolution.
The cover needs to contain the following text:
The Secret History of Star Wars
Read by Josh Robert Thompson
Optionally, you may choose to include the subtitle of the book if you believe it will benefit the design. The subtitle is:
The Art of Storytelling and the Making of a Modern Epic
* Design Details *
We like the concept of using one core image or illustration which shows the theme of the book (the book is about Star Wars, the creative writing process, and the film industry). Simple is always good!
Please do not use any trademarked or copyrighted images (ie. no images or logos from Star Wars, including the Star Wars logo itself). Because this is an unauthorized history, the "Star Wars" font may look similar to the official logo, but it cannot directly copy it.
We have attached an image of the print version of the book, but we believe we can do a lot better, so please try to be creative and original!
Some additional examples have been provided and just happen to be ones we like, rather than ones we want you to emulate, although the "Catching Fire" cover IS pretty awesome...
