DELIVERABLES FOR THE FINAL ROUND:
I will need a favicon.
An on black version.
An on white version.
Both of the above with transparent backgrounds.
I need versions with the following dims:
146 x 22
Also will need to know the name of the font that you are using.
Please see the business card design. It will basically fold into a phone stand so this about that then you position logo on backside etc.
CLEVER - CREATIVE - INNOVATIVE
[PLS PLS PLS don't copy stuff - this is my first competition and so I could not make it blind from the beginning but after 4 days I have contacted 99designs and they have let me make it blind and extend for 3 days because I have noticed that designers are posting and then based on my rating they are simply copying other designer - there has been very little innovation]
I DON'T WANT AN ICON WITH smplthn.gs underneath it.
I'd really like someone to think about smplthngs and make that the word the design. Simple but clever - it doesn't have to be black and white.
I will now provide feedback on each design directly to each designer that come up with original designs that are answering the brief (not copying other designs). Thank you:-
We are setting out to take a minimalist approach to a complicated subject (B2B digital is the most complicated area of digital IMO) and we do actually connect digital pipes between technologies.
smplthngs is the name of the company. We have no history. We can be SMPLTHNGS or smplthngs at this stage. We have the url smplthn.gs and so think it *could* be nifty to have that as the log so long as it all looks like one word i.e. do not bold the text before or after the 'dot' in the url as this separates the word. Also think about how we minimize the impact of the dot in the design as to how the letters run together to form a single word.
For lettermark style designs you can be creative with the letters etc and if you want you can remove the 'dot' =
OR you can split the words =
AND IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE lowercase IF UPPERCASE HELPS YOU BE CREATIVE WITH THE LETTERS
The website is going to have a very minimal feel. The marketing blog is all about minimalism (beyond marketing).
Random-aside: I feel like there may be inspiration from one of the subway maps from around the world (pipe) if there is a minimal looking one.
The site will be very black and white and we're a serious company but *I feel we could use color in the logo* in a way that is minimalist or simplifies the complex.
I won't be going for anything that is complex (obviously) but I am not tied to anything.
The most likely WP theme is this:
But am considering all of these:
With that in mind, I would take advise on website theme but have a good friend would is setting it up.
In terms of website font, I want to use an easily embedded font so that my PPT / emails always translate (pet peeve at all companies I've worked at) so I have been playing with Helvetica Neue Light and spacing it out a little more. I AM OPEN TO DIFFERENT FONTS -> The logo can have a completely different font and Helvetica Neue Light does not need to be used - I am not tied to it - but I think it clever use of a standard font should be considered. Pls spend time thinking about the logo rather than the corporate font.
One final point is that I really don't like type of design:
I've never written brief for design before so pls feel free to ask any qualifying questions and I look forward to working with you beyond this first engagement. Thank you.
**Addition 1: smplthn.gs is 'simple things' with out the vowels so bolding the letters before the dot is not helpful as it unnaturally separates the word.
**Addition 2: Leaving a large gap between smplthn . gs separates the word and makes it difficult to read.
