I have a solo recruiting practice, where I do recruiting, search and placement for the software technology community. I have a lot of experience in this space but recently went out on my own. Main clients are startups and other fast-paced software, web, etc types of companies, and I'm finding for them software engineers and related types of folks. Not so much "Information Technology" or IT in a business application sense, but really more "high tech" and software engineering. These are typically direct-hire positions, so I'm not placing contractors of temps, but typically highly-skilled software engineers, product people etc with these companies for permanent roles. I tend to do most of my work for smaller companies, again they're often VC funded startups, so they're pretty fast paced with a high hiring bar. I like to think of myself as part detective (seeking and finding the really good candidates) and part matchmaker (helping those candidates find the ideal company, and the companies find the ideal employee and helping them both navigate thru the process). I like to do quality work, and not be overly salesy or pushy but try to find a match that works well for everyone. Most of my experience and contacts over the last 27 years have been in the Boston area, but I don't want an identity that limits me to that geography, since I will likely want to expand my horizons over time.

I like the idea of a vertical business card with rounded corners a
lot, but I don't know if my company name is too long to work well with
a vertical format. Also, I don't know whether it's common to have the
"LLC" part of the company name in the actual logo, so it doesn't
absolutely have to be, but it needs to be that way on the business
card, letterhead, envelopes. Please make sure to check out the
definition of "oculus" ... it could be an opening in a dome that lets
in light, so "shedding light" on the appropriate matches might be
something; also in Latin an "oculus" is a eye, so again this seems
relevant to a search and placement business, and the French translate
oculus as "oeil de boeuf", or bullseye, which also seems like a good
thing for a recruiting business, although I think that one could be
overly cliche and heavyhanded.
