Through the podcast, Ink Slinger Success Stories, the community group InkSlingerCentral.com, and with my non-fiction writing, I aim to promote power and mastery to writers as they produce content and negotiate the obscure and rapidly-changing world of publishing. Like the Maritime Industry, where seamen were powerless individuals, who in our lifetime have gone from being paid annually (!?) to securing excellent pay and leave entitlements, authors have recently gone from being paid semi-annually to monthly income from large online publishers (however, still many months in arrears of earnings). Despite these advances, writers and authors are still isolated individuals, and at Ink Slinger Success, we believe in getting recent, relevant and expert advice about every facet of the publishing industry and passing that on to members of the community.
I serve people who believe in family first and income second, with an abundant mindset. People who believe that experiences are more important than possessions. People who understand that kids care more about 'time' than 'quality time.' I believe that stay-at-home parents are the unsung heroes of our culture, especially those who gave up fulfilling careers because they understand how important *their* input is to their children's development. I completely understand the many reasons why new parents go back to work, and I will never judge anyone who made that choice, but I do believe that professional stay-at-home mothers and 'house husbands' have made a sacrifice to personally ensure that the next generation of their family grows up with all the necessary skills to take their place in the world as a contributor to art, business, science etc, instead of just a consumer.
My avatar is Angela. She's a professional woman who gave up her career in order to raise her children. She is now 35, a stay-at-home mother with a toddler and a baby--whom she's breastfeeding. Instead of returning to her previous career, she now looks to create family freedom while being at home with her children. She believes she can make a great living publishing her writing online, either in a blog, by writing novels or non-fiction books or other commercial writing. My aim is to teach Angela the skills and provide tools and materials so that she's on track to her future and earning within a year of fully committing.
