Wat is jouw visie?
In the site I’m going for a realistic paper look, like book paper. In line with that theme, the illustration should be like a black and white illustration in a book, which will be the first thing the user sees when they get to the site. The drawing style I most enjoy is from the artist who did 01.jpg and 02.jpg in the sample images. What I'd like is a drawing (that looks like pencil or pen) that is separated into six layers. When the layers are on the site, they will move separately as the user scrolls, creating an illusion of depth with a parallax effect similar to the top of the site linked here: http://www.firewatchgame.com/ (But the motion will be handled by my site designers -- I just need the layers for it.) I want a pencil- or pen-style drawing that... - is beautiful / heart opening - captures the imagination - illustrates the joy of reading So far, I’m imagining someone in the foreground who is fully absorbed in reading... - a high-school-aged Korean girl (this site will first be introduced in Korea) - If the race is more indeterminate, that’s okay, too. Maybe even better. - beautiful in a simple way, not exaggerated or unrealistic - casual -- jeans and comfortable shoes or maybe socks, if she's indoors - in a comfortable reading position BUT if you have other ideas about the reader, whether it's a boy or a girl, where s/he should be placed, as long as it has at least one person who represents a reader, I'm open. And there can definitely be other beings / characters in the layers or maybe other versions of the same person. Note: While I suggested that the reader be a girl, and my sample images are of girls and women, I want the content to appeal to boys as well. The overall look shouldn't be so feminine that self-conscious high-school boys would be embarrassed to like it. The layers should illustrate the worlds that are open to the reader because of books - not all fantasy style, because I don't want to exclude readers of realistic fiction or even nonfiction - definitely some fantasy - also sci-fi - No references to specific stories (for example, no Harry Potter or Star Wars) I've been thinking about how dragons and castles are such common symbols of the fantasy genre, and a lot of artists used those in their designs for that reason. In my sample images, 01.jpg has a woman who seems to have wings. You could say she's an angel, but she breaks the stereotype of angels in her appearance and emotion. It's beautiful but not immediately classifiable as a known story element, but there's obviously a story there, and that's what captures my imagination when I see that image. I could say something similar about 04.jpg and especially 05.jpg. I would love for you to use your imagination to come up with things that are beautiful and not immediately classifiable as known story elements, because this is about hinting at new experiences through books. Because the layers will move (like the Firewatch link above), depth is one of the most important elements of this illustration. Large objects in the center of the foreground would block the view of deeper layers, which could be a problem because those layers should be the star of the show. Like the Firewatch example, the layers should for the most part be layers of "landscape," even if they are not actually natural landscape. We may be taking your layers and cutting them out as if they are paper cutouts and putting a shadow behind each layer. You wouldn't have to do that part, but keeping that in mind might influence your design. Note: I don't want a design that features lots of books, bookshelves, giant books, etc. Just one reader with one book. Because the site already has a book-like appearance, I want the illustration to focus on the worlds that books can take the reader to, not books themselves. Technical details: - The layers should be 1920 pixels wide x 1200 pixels high at the most. - It should be a pencil or pen drawing style. - Layered PSD, six layers including foreground and background
