Ernest Vineyards blends a modern-day commitment to crafting simple wines with a family history steeped in service, humility and hard work. The wines themselves—approachable-yet-elegant Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs—bring together old-world winemaking techniques with a new-world style of using nothing but single-vineyard, low-yield fruit. Based in Santa Rosa, Calif., Ernest sources grapes from the Sonoma Coast and Russian River appellations, working exclusively with small and independent farmers.

Our website, http://www.ernestvineyards.com, has a banner image that remains consistent throughout (attached here). To bring life to the site, I would like to have the image converted to a .gif with a subtle motion in the leaves and potentially a bird flying. The idea for this came from http://www.sullivanwine.com but rather than record a series of images, my hope is that a subtle animation can be added manually to the existing image. Obviously the resulting .gif needs to remain small to continue to load quickly.
To reduce the size of the .gif while keeping the fidelity of the portrait image, I can construct the banner on the site as a .jpg next to the .gif. So, for the final project, all that I need is an animated .gif of the vineyard photograph excluding the portrait and the dividing strip. Since this will be viewed on a desktop browser, the .gif can be as big at 500k (I will swap out the .gif for a static image on a mobile device).
I would also be able to consider doing a looping video like this: http://www.sullivanwine.com/assets/video/Sullivan.m4v
