We are starting a new consortium here at my university for underwater robots (ROVs) and drones (UAVs). We use these robots to monitoring the health of our coastlines (in Southern California, Louisiana, the Cook Islands, etc.). This new consortium is a place to train people to uses these tools and be professional, avoiding "spying," etc.
University Students, Researchers, Robotic consulting firms, the general public, and Congressional Representatives.
From our vision statement:
We envision a future in which a diverse array of well-controlled aerial and aquatic RPS with broad sensory and performance capabilities are operated professionally and safely to monitor, protect, and nurture the natural and human-dominated regions of our coastal zone.
Our existing logo for our PIRatE AARR group involves a skull and crossbones motif: a skull and quad copter rotor blades.
