Greenstone Point is a wine brand owned by Sherwood Estate Wines. We are a family owned vineyard and wine company in the Waipara Valley, in the South Island of New Zealand.
Greenstone Point was established in 1997 and our wine is sold internationally, but not within New Zealand. The wine, and this brand, has been designed to allow us to share the best of New Zealand wine with the world.
Greenstone Point wine is currently primarily sold in Australia and the USA and retails for approximately AU $18-$23 and US $14-$18. We are, however looking to expand this brand into other markets and so are looking for a brand identity that clearly links this brand with New Zealand. This is a premium wine made in an exciting, up-and-coming wine region.
Our target audience are those who appreciate good quality, who are adventurous in spirit and like to try the new.

Greenstone is the English word for New Zealand Ponamu also called Jade. The stone has strong cultural significance in NZ. Although this is part of the brands name I am happy to explore colour options outside of the green spectrum. I am interested in colours in the orange/yellow spectrum but happy to take suggestions and also to have mixed colours. We prefer not to have blue colours.

“Greenstone Point Vineyards bring the very best of New Zealand wine to you. We select only the best fruit from one of New Zealand’s premier vineyard regions, the Waipara Valley, to bring a true taste of New Zealand wine to the world. Greenstone Point Vineyards constantly craft outstanding examples of New Zealand wine that challenge conventions and push boundaries. Our wines are exciting with intensity of flavour and an easy drinkability.”
An important aspect of our brand is where we are based. The fruit for our wine comes from five company owned vineyards in the Waipara Valley. This is a very small wine-growing region on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Despite being very small in geographic area, the Waipara Valley has a great diversity of soil types. This leads to great variety in the wines produced here, making them exciting to the consumer whilst always providing something new to discover. The Waipara Valley wine region is relatively unknown both to New Zealand and international consumers. This gives wines from this area a sense of prestige and exclusivity whilst giving the consumer the sense they are one of the first to discover “the next big thing”.
Our winery is also based in the Waipara Valley meaning the winemakers can work in close partnership with the vineyard growers, letting the grapes and the season dictate the winemaking process. This is an important aspect of our product as it reflects the true connection between the land and place and the final product, the wine.
We are proudly 100% New Zealand owned and this is important to the company’s values. New Zealand wine is often referred to as “New World” wine with the connotation that it is the newer, more modern version of wine produced from older, more traditional wine producing countries. To us, being a New Zealand company means we are adventurous in how we approach our winemaking; we are not governed by restrictive rules meaning we can experiment with different wine styles that are exciting to the consumer.
We would like the logo to reflect three important aspects of our brand:
• The price point of this wine, being a premium, mid-priced wine
• That we are a modern and innovative wine company
• That we are a proud New Zealand company who wants to introduce exclusive New Zealand wine to the world
We intend to use this logo on wine labels and so the words Greenstone Point need to appear somewhere within the logo. The creation of the logo is the first step in re-branding the Greenstone Point brand and so a logo and type font that can be incorporated into both a wine label and other POS is required.
