MySagHarbor.com
My name is John, I live on Long Island in New York. I work for a large corporation in New York City, but try to find web-based ventures to fill the little extra time I have. I've been looking to start an internet site for some time now and hoping this one will be a good first start. I launched a parenting blog site - FunctionalFather.com last year and now I'm looking to try a bigger endeavour taking on a magazine-style site targeted at a specific, popular summer village.
My wife and her family are from Sag Harbor, NY which is a small, quaint, classic New England-style village in the heart of the ritzy getaway known as "The Hamptons." In the summer, sworms of people (mostly wealthy) flock to The Hamptons each weekend to enjoy the beaches, nightlife, and the constant celebrity sightings. While Sag Harbor is part of "The Hamptons", it's often considered the alternative to all the hustle and bustle. There is a very strong local presence - people who grew up here, live here, and work here, and who depend on the migration of all the elite to help keep the area prosperous.
At MySagHarbor.com we are targeting both audiences - the locals and the aristocratic visitors and providing an insiders guide to life in the area. We'll feature restaurant reviews, ideas of outdoor activities, tips for navigating around the area, parenting advice etc. - all written by locals.

This is an online business - a weblog/online magazine, so I want to make sure we realize that the primary use of the logo will be for the web, but we will also plan to use it for print production (T-shirts, decals, stickers, cards).
We would like a professional logo, but one with some creativitiy and flavor to it.
Sag Harbor's most iconic landmark is an old fashioned windmill located directly near the docks. You can find pictures of this on Google's Image search (enter "Sag Harbor windmill"). I think one great design would be "MySagHarbor.com" with a sillouette of a windmill in the background or just the arms of the windmill.
It's also a very active port for fishermen and yachts, so perhaps a picture/graphic of water or boats or boat masts could be included.
I'd like to include the ".com" in the logo
I'm thinking the typeset will have the "My" in the name be different than the rest of the lettering - perhaps a script-style font for "My" and clearer block type for "SagHarbor.com"
The files we will require are:
Print file format - .eps (CMYK)
Web file format - .jpg and layered .psd (RGB)
Colors should reflect a summer-style or ocean-like theme, but nothing too far from earth tones or solid, traditional colors.
