Restaurateurs Responsables et Protecteurs de la Biodiversité
Vertel ons iets meer over jezelf en de mensen die je bereikt
We are a Gabonese environmental nonprofit, OELO, that works to eliminate illegal trade of bushmeat from endangered species in the Bas Ogooué Ramsar Site of Gabon, Africa. Inonghe is a restaurant coop- the first of its kind in Gabon, where women will collectively sell traditional recipes. Members have signed a pledge to no longer sell illegal bushmeat and to respect hunting seasons. Illegal bushmeat commerce is one of the major biodiversity threats in Gabon. We want to set best practices, celebrate local culture, and create a unique space that attracts tourists and locals, while supporting local vendors.

This is a first of its kind collaboration between environmental non profit OELO, the city of Lambaréné, and restaurant vendors of the Bas Ogooué. OELO's logo is attached, bc it will appear next to this logo on some materials. We liked the idea of an outline of Gabon with a woman preparing food (in the example below from a restaurant in Paris- We also like the colors in this image). We have also included a photo of one of the project's founders (woman right side of third photo holding a poster of the protected species of Gabon) who was the president of Inonghe. She sadly passed away earlier this year and we would like the woman in the logo to symbolically honor her memory. Perhaps, she could be wearing the same color and headscarf like in her photo (?) We've included an outline of Gabon. We would somehow also like the logo to have a conservation/respect of nature component by including the above slogan. Finally, I've added several photos of traditional food preparation. Mortar and pestle is used here (2nd photo), but perhaps more appropriate is the preparation of manioc "baton" (1st photo). One idea is that the woman could have a basket (right side of 4th photo) with leaves and a rolled baton in hand (like 3rd photo).
