Maison Layette is a startup that offers lease packages for newborn/baby furniture and gear. From cribs to strollers to car seats to dressers, parents are now able to make affordable monthly payments for higher quality, new equipment for their kids. The name Maison Layette means House of Layette, a Layette being a "kit consisting of a complete outfit (clothing and accessories) for a new baby". We are, in short, a one-stop shop for everything a newborn needs.
Unlike your local baby store, Maison Layette is not run by a retired or bored stay-at-home mom. The company is a financial solution to improve the health and comfort of newborn babies and should be taken seriously.
The logo should therefore be warm, cozy, elegant and cute to reflect the newborns but also professional for our financial solution. We would prefer a logo that can be recognized by the font alone, think CocaCola, FedEx, Zappos.com, Disney, Barbie, Hot Wheels, etc. If we were to take any of their fonts and write something else, we'd still know where it came from.
Be creative with the capital M of Maison and L of Layette. When we chose the name and wrote it out, we found that both of those letters can be very elegant and unique in cursive, see attached files for examples (remember these are EXAMPLES, we do not want all future designs to have that exact font)
Our major market consists primarily of young professionals, majority being female however we definitely want to appeal to the father as we are more finance-focused than other stores. Due to our new method of doing business and the age group and generation we appeal to, the feel we want to give off is more modern but not to the point of overshadowing the feel of coziness.
Requirements include the following:
-Font oriented. Prefer a fully custom font, otherwise please write the name of the font you used and where you found it.
-Color coordination. Please submit a few color schemes you feel fit, the color-scheme of the logo will dictate the theme of the website.
-Feel must reflect Elegance, Warmth, and Professionalism all at once. This will be a DIFFICULT task so many designs will be eliminated. We may also be going into retail stores so imagine your logo printed as a big cut out above the front door!
-Be creative with the lettering and feel free to incorporate anything from baby footsteps or cribs or a house or something, it just needs to match with newborns. Something like Zappos.com did with the shoe or FedEx with its arrow between the E and X. Please see attached files for examples.
-See attached logos for inspiration but NOT carbon copies. The cursive M and L letters are for inspiration to create your own.
-Please have a final version available in Adobe Illustrator format as we will be using that for all print and embroidery.
