Imagine never being able to take your child to get a fresh-baked cupcake or a cookie because she could not eat any gluten or dairy. I would like to capture the thrill and hardly-contained glee these children will experience when they walk in and see our swirly, sprinkled, gorgeous confections, all of which they CAN eat! My ideal logo reflects a kind of Alice-in-Wonderland (Tim Burton's), Willy Wonka, enchanted-forest, whimsical, wonderful experience. Let's stay away from trendy; I don't want it to be too child-like, either, which is why I would rather stay away from cartoonish themes and baby colors. I also want to convey a sense of (almost dark) alchemy, as in: How can these scrumptious cakes possibly be gluten and dairy free? Magic.
This is the final round in my logo contest - the first round yielded three amazing designs, all very close to what I had envisioned. I also got great feedback from my prospective audience: (1) The name on the logo should be prominent and easy-to-read (no light-colored lettering), (2) The logo should not be TOO busy (I like busy, but we should keep it manageable and not over-the-top), (3) No spiderwebs (while it conveyed the Tim Burton enchanted forest theme well, the audience didn't like it associated with a bakery. Personally, I'd still like to see a small spider - no web - in a corner.) The audience liked the butterflies, bumblebees, ladybugs, and flowers.
I'd also add that I do like a more cursive font, as in the file MrsBsSweetery2, at least for the Mrs. B's part.
I'd like you to take those designs to heart, but feel free to be inspired by the theme and get creative. I will be in daily contact, giving honest feedback to all designers. I look forward to getting a final logo in a week, to formally launch Mrs. B's!
