I am a 27 year old female entrepreneur committed to starting my own real estate investing business. I plan to buy residential homes from people that may be in distressed situations (foreclosures, inherited property) for example, as well as sell newly renovated homes to first time homebuyers. I am not a realtor. In other words, I am not a real estate professional under a national real estate company...I simply invest in residential property. As I learned about real estate investing, I kept meeting "stodgy", "old school" male investors that had almost a "used car salesman" stereotype (comb-overs, unethical vibes - the kind you need to worry about being taken advantage of when buying a home from). Very few of them dressed professionally or made me comfortable. I want to stand out as a unique investor that people are refreshed to come across and genuinely feel I helped their situation.
I am a person who can build rapport with people quickly and enjoys helping others. I love efficiency and that has fueled my passion for online marketing - can reach so many more people so quickly.
I aim to be one who changed people's mind on the experience of buying/selling homes.

My audience is residential home-owners and home-buyers. These people may be young couples, couples with several children, old/senior citizens, possibly in distressed situations (going into foreclosure for example), they may be lower to mid-middle income, they may be curious to learn what options they have to sell a home. The live in the state of Michigan. I would guess about half of them use the internet for researching and making decisions but some may prefer to respond to a direct mailed marketing postcard.
I am planning to send a great deal of direct mail letters out and I want my logo to stand out as a bright option they may have not known existed...I want to peak their curiosity and make them feel compelled to find "Best Deal Homes in MI" online after seeing the logo. I wanted to get very creative with a business name but was told to be sure your customers know what you do by the title of the company. "Best Deal Homes in MI"
My other audience is certainly real estate investors as well but they understand what my business is but the logo can help me stand out as a savvy new "player" in the market since most are very established and have no logo for their company if any.
A couple neat things to keep in mind:
-In the state of Michigan, everyone holds up their left hand in a "mitten" position to demonstrate a map of the state and to then show people where they live. Perhaps you could incorporate the outline of Michigan as a hand in someway-- holding a house, shaking a hand, etc. I want to stand out as a Michigan-based company.
-When I came up with the name of my company, "Best Deal Homes in MI", I thought, "whether you are buying or selling a home, you want the BEST deal on your home you can get". People don't want a "good deal"...they say "I want the BEST deal" so I decided bestdealhomesinmi.com was the domain to go for. This new logo will go on the top of my website (which is pretty bare bones at the moment).
-I love all the lowercase letters and soft edges that have been associated with the "green movement"..."eco-friendly" "eco-magination"...I like modern fonts, I like a logo that incorporates the company name; words stacked, in a circle, whatever makes it memorable.
-Real estate investing is DOMINATED by men so I want to play the fact that I am a woman to my advantage without seeming "girlie" or "Mary Kay-business like". This logo is to symbolize my business approach of: professional, refreshing, trustworthy, collaborative, genuine, online marketing savvy, efficient, comforting, transparent.
