WHO WE ARE
We are Kids Collective, a Westside LA preschool that offers holistic, nature-friendly programs focusing on art and classic education. We position ourselves as a modern, urban and classy preschool that unleashes kids' creative potential through a unique, dual program based on the teaching methods of Maria Montessori and Loris Malaguzzi (Reggio). Below you can find an expanded brief of our philosophy.
WHAT WE NEED
Kids Collective wants you to design an aesthetic, modern logo that shouldn't feature any hackneyed child-related concepts - baby palms, sunflowers, smiles, butterflies, ladybugs, trees, etc. You want to think a modern and cool, if not hip, gourmet coffee shop like Intelligentsia or a trendy yoga class. It must appeal to modern, affluent and intelligent urban parents living in Westside LA and stand out from dull, poorly positioned kindergartens and preschools.
“Education means making creators…you have to make inventors, innovators not conformists." Jean Piaget
“Follow the child” Maria Montessori
When we talk about different educational methods such as Montessori, Reggio or the work of Jean Piaget ultimately the basic concept of all these theories are quite alike: child-centered, learning occurs as a result of experience, the child instinctively knows what he or she needs to do and our job is to best prepare the environment that the child is in.
At Kids Collective we prepared the environment so that it offers both the Montessori and the Reggio inspired curriculum.
We expose children to all these learning methods so we can truly follow them and give them the opportunity to absorb what’s best needed for their development.
Our preschoolers are encouraged to visit both classrooms as it exposes them to what we believe is a complete learning environment. Our goal is to instill the love for learning, (a child’s most formative years are from birth to 5 years of age) so it lasts a lifetime. Children learn best through their experiences and their own initiated activities rather than direct instruction by an adult. Our teachers are collaborators, inspirers, team builders and discoverers. We are multicultural, encourage children to learn and be respectful of all cultures.
