My Child Therapy - Occupational Therapy for Children
I am an occupational therapist starting up a private practice working with children. This is a new business and I am currently the sole therapist.
Occupational Therapists working with children provide assistance to those experiencing difficulty participating in everyday activities. This may include children with relatively minor difficulties, such as children having trouble with handwriting or those with more significant disabilities such as children with autism.
Occupational Therapists evaluate why a child is having difficulty performing these tasks and provide intervention in the context of the environment (home/school/kindergarten).
Children who benefit from Occupational Therapy (O.T) include those who have difficulties in one or more of the following areas:
• Drawing, writing, painting, cutting
• Initiating and organising schoolwork tasks
• Independent dressing, feeding and toileting
I really love working with children but a very important part of my role is also working in partnership with parents and other health professionals.
The best part of my job is helping children gain confidence, independence and skills in completiing tasks they previously had trouble doing.
My practice will be personable, friendly and client-centred. I try to make occupational therapy sessions fun for children so they enjoy coming.
I work in homes, schools & pre-schools.

The logo will be used on flyers, a website, brochures and any branding for the service. I am wanting to inform health professionals, parents and early childhood educators and teachers about my practice and encourage referrals to the service.
The audience I am targeting for the service is therefore health professionals (often doctors), parents and educators. Because I focus on therapy being fun for the children, I also want the logo to be inviting to children.
• Warm colours
• NO o GREENS or BLACK
•I am looking for a logo which would appeal to parents and also be inviting to children.
•Some of the children I see have minor difficulties whilst others have significant difficulties (use a wheelchair). I would like the logo to be appealing to parents of children of all abilities, so if a wheelchair was going to be used on the logo I would like a typical child also represented. I don't necessarily what a wheelchair represented.
•I want to portray that my work is about children developing independence and confidence in completing everyday tasks.
•I don't want any photos but a symbol/graphic would be great
I would like the design to have My Child Therapy and underneath (or wherever) Occupational Therapy for Children in smaller font.
I have thought about the idea of having 3 main symbols to represent what i do. One would be around play, another self-care (dressing, toileting, feeding) and a third schoolwork. Symbols could be for example a bike, knife and fork and a pencil/scissors.
I am really excited about what ideas you might have. Thank-you for reading my brief!
