Hello. We are two brothers who are trying desperately to get the Livestock industry into the 21st century. Our previous companies for the livestock industry have been know as being ahead of the curve, innovative and creative. We like that, but our customer most appreciate our life background. We both grew up on the same farm and have a deep understanding where the average farmer or rancher is coming from. They look at us as their computer literate son (or grandson). Either way we like it, they put a lot of trust in our hands and we want them to feel like they can trust us. Livestock Direct is a company that will help the livestock community produce colorful and remarkable marketing supplies. We want our customers to look at us as both innovative but deeply grounded in the tradition that is the American west.
When we say Livestock we are talking about people who breed cattle, sheep, pigs, goats, and horses.
Our target audience can be broken into two groups. The first is the ranch owner. This person is greater than 45, male and most likely conservative. They appreciate innovation but are resistant to change. The second group is livestock graphic designers. This group is typically female and in their 30's. They like being modern and progressive but are hampered in their work by the "ranch owner" who can be resistant to change.
Both groups can appreciate a clean not complicated logo.
We would like an icon that represents livestock direct. This could be a graphic or creative use of the "LD" initials. Either way, something that people will recognize and attribute to Livestock Direct. At the same time we would like that icon integrated with the actual company name, so we can use it on business cards and letter heads.
As far as creative design, we are so open to ideas that it may be easier to describe what we don't want...
As far as a logo goes, both groups won't appreciate anything that blatantly screams "ranchy or "western". We would like to shy away from any direct use of an animal heads. So please, no sheep, cattle, goat or horse head. However, if you feel like you can design something so awesome that it will blow our minds, post it. Also barbwire, cowboy hats and lariats should be avoided.
We are looking for a logo that can be easily put on different mediums; website, print materials, and screen printing.
Just show us what your thinking at first, we won't hesitate in providing feedback. We are very open to creative ideas and would like a logo that will look innovative in the livestock community.
