Shymbulak ski resort in Almaty, Kazakhstan has been operating for many years but it has fallen into a poor state of repair. We have made a massive investment into new facilities and will be launching the new brand in autumn this year.
The resort has been chosen to host the Asian Winter Olympics in 2011 so this logo will get significant global coverage.
We will offer true four seasons functionality with traditional winter sports supplemented by snow parks and walking trails. The summers in Almaty are hot and dusty and the resort provides a welcome fresh air retreat from the polluted city. Summer activities will include para sailing, hiking, mountain climbing, horseback riding, outdoor concerts, etc.
Spa treatments from the natural thermal springs will be available all year round.
There will be a brand new 4km long gondola lift from the valley floor - Medeo - up to the ski area, known as Shymbulak.
The base station in Medeo is a short 15minute drive from Almaty, the largest city in the country and the commercial hub of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The ski area will be served by the latest new ski lifts imported from Austria.

The majority of customers will be the citizens of the city of Almaty, around 1.8million people, but the resort will also welcome visitors from all over the region and beyond. The current mix of customers cover all age groups and incomes.
We specifically want to encourage families and beginners to expand the customer base.
We would like the logo to have the word "Shymbulak" in the logo with some sort of graphic incorporated (perhaps using the "S" in Shymbulak?) that can become the icon for the resort.
Colors used have to be fresh, light, energetic, gives a feeling of altitude. This is reinforced by choice of typo which has also to emphasize this feeling of dynamism, trendiness and modernism. The idea of the complex is to become a modern destination; the logo has to reflect this modernity and trendiness. The logo should reflect the benefit visitors will get from the complex, a mix of sport in winter but as well a place without pollution, great space… the complex is suitable for advanced ski users but aims to be as well a resort where you can come as a beginner, with your family and find your own rhythm.
The logo has to work on any background and can be modernized time to time quite easily without losing its meaning and understanding.

NB: Where the acronym "CMR" is used please consider this to mean Medeo Shymbulak Mountain Resort, but we will only use the name Shymbulak in the logo.
