I like the organic, somewhat vintage/hipster vibe of this design. My initial reaction was that I prefer a simpler, all caps type of font (similar to the "Fredric Sannebro design below). However, a font style similar to this might grow on me, and it may also allow for some experimentation with turning the tail of the "e" in "Riverstone" into a river, similar to the tail shown above.
I initially liked the style of font in this design. There is also something about it that seems to embody the touch of vintage/hipster vibe that I gravitate toward, while still retaining modernity. I think that's an important concept to keep in mind for our design. While there is something very organic, creative, comfortable/homey, inviting about the vintage feel, we're striving to produce music that is modern and cutting edge for our clients. I think a design that can communicate the balance of those ideas would be fantastic.
While I do not like this font style or the particular badge/banner in which the text is contained, I do like the idea of a circular part of the badge behind the name. I also like the texture this design seems to have.
Similar to this, I'm envisioning an all white logo on a dark blue background on our website's home page. And the inverse for business cards.
While our tastes tend to gravitate toward a vintage, hipster vibe, we still hope for this design to retain modernity. We love the organic, creative, comfortable, homey, and inviting qualities of the vintage feel, but we're striving to produce music that is modern, sometimes sleek, and always cutting edge for our clients. We've had clients in folk/indie/alternative (hipster visuals), but we also have clients in pop, rock, and country. We're also trying to appeal to a broader audience of middle-aged adults who may have children interested in taking music lessons with our company, as well as churches that might be interested in hiring musicians and bands we assemble for worship services. A design that can communicate a balance between the comforts of the vintage feel and the sleek, professional attributes of the modern feel will be a huge winner for us.
