Hello! This is a revised brief for an extended contest. The first time around, I got some nice submissions, but because I didn't run it blind, all of the submissions started to look the same, so I am adjusting my notes here in hopes that I will see more variety before selecting finalists.
My site has been up and running for 2+ years, but I haven't ever really had a good logo. I am an independent publisher and blogger, not affiliated with a university or corporation. That means I can speak my mind honestly about the issues teachers face and I can share my real personality with my readers, rather than hiding behind a corporate image. So I want my logo to reflect that. I don't want it to look institutional or corporate, but I don't want it to be cutesy either. I do not want my stuff to look like a typical education brand. I am attaching screen shots from my website (http://www.cultofpedagogy.com) and my speaker info page to give you an idea of the look and feel I'm going for.
I like designs that blend humor with sophistication. Those who view my brand should feel as if it is super high-quality, but with a definite edge.
Typeface is incredibly important to me. I tend to go more for super-thin, sophisticated typefaces, handwritten print (not cursive or script), and old typewriter fonts. I realize none of these necessarily work together, and I still haven't quite figured out if I want my logo to be more sophisticated-looking or more organic and DIY-looking, but if forced to choose, I would lean more toward DIY...so designs that look handwritten or hand-drawn will get my attention.
I don't want a lot of color--black and white with touches of gray and a pop of red are ideal.
