Polished but not boring contemporary logo

Klein Venture Partners is an investment group specializing in helping startups go from concept to shipping their first product. We're looking for a contemporary logo that's professional and polished without being staid and stuffy; this logo will be used on our web site and on our business cards.

We're looking for a great logo that communicates who we are and how we work. We advise and invest in software companies that are all about user participation and community building, mostly Web 2.0, and green companies and green technology. We collaborate with companies on rich and compelling user experiences, especially in interaction design, and we also provide guidance on viral marketing.

The people we work with are in their 20s or 30s, proven innovators, and are actively involved in product design and development.

We're really excited to see what you come up with, and will be checking in on the contest at least daily if not more often!

Needs to be usable for web and print (vector graphics format, maybe others.)

Design laid out on a business card would be a plus.

We like blues and greens, but they're not a requirement. We also like the Web 2.0 look with gradients, etc.

Conveys collaborating/embracing/including/fun.

UPDATE based on seeing first designs: leading caps, all caps, small caps is good; all three words should be equally or close to equally emphasized. We seem to be gravitating to the 3d look with gradients, shadows, depth/dimension. Inclusive feel is very important.

Designs that are cartoony or childlike, e.g. Comic Sans and text balloons.

Designs that are too east-coast-money, staid, and stuffy, e.g. with Greco-roman influence (the capitals of Ionic columns) , Copperplate script, or Times New Roman in small caps.

No pastel colors or tangerine orange, please!
