Bourgeois Anarchist
Web publisher of high quality web content
The so-called cultural elite. Tastemakers.
Readers of the New Yorker magazine, the New York Review of Books, the Atlantic.
They are smart, cultured, comfortable. Complacent, middle-aged but wishing they weren't.
They want something that is at once new and different, yet recognizable within their frame of reference.
Looking for an iconic / abstract logo with a textual expression of the name.
Black and white.
Simple.
Both the logo and the text should include elements of both:
1. disruption/chaos/messy/ violent/punk (anarchy), and
2. upper-middle class / convervative striving / fancy (bourgeois).
Here is an example of a logo that is more representational than I am looking for but that successfullly combines these two kinds of elements in an effective way: http://www.friendlyanarchist.com/
Note the combination of textures in the example -- a stencil look for the red balloon and the human figure but a more realistic look for the flowers. See also the different fonts and textures -- matte for the balloon stencil (it really looks stenciled), dark flat black for the words, bright 3D color for the flowers.
Example of textures / images that look "bourgeois" include: brass plaque, engraved stationary (I don't mean fancy filigree writing, what I mean is the texture of letterpress, think a lawyer's business card), Brooks Brothers (e.g., a regimental striped silk tie), madras plaid, a Lacoste polo shirt, the Goldman Sachs logo, khaki pants, shiny dark blue car paint, the New Yorker logo. Something bourgeois has a very finished, polished look.
Things that look anarchistic are sloppy ink / spray paint, violent contrast, bullet holes, explosions, stencil, torn fabric, military canvas, piercings. The look is unfinished, young, revolutionary.
Please remember to mix these textures / looks! It probably makes most sense for the word "Bourgeois" to look bourgeois, and the word "Anarchist" to look anarchistic.
Thanks, and good luck!
