We are a startup company with a web app that is launching in March. The product name is "SimpleCTMS" (clinical trial management system).
The application is a collaborative, project-management tool for global teams. The goals for our product/application are to be: simple, flexible, intuitive, organized, and team-oriented.
Our product/company website is simplectms.com, which has a temporary logo and design, and has more info about us and the product. The temporary logo includes a "fire" icon, because our official company name is "Trial by Fire Solutions" (but the fire icon does not really make sense for SimpleCTMS).

We are targeting professionals in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, who plan, execute and track clinical trials (for drugs that are not yet on the market).
The CTMS market has existed for many years, but most applications are complicated, clunky, outdated/ugly and difficult to use. We are launching a fresh, innovative, attractive user experience, based on the latest web technologies/trends.
We do not necessarily need a logo that reflects biotech or pharma.... our design goal has been to build a sleek, simple, flexible, intuitive/organic web app, and we want a logo to reflect that.
We would like the logo in two text formats: "SimpleCTMS" (for our web site) and "SimpleCTMS.com" (for print, swag and other web uses).
We are accustomed to a logo consisting of an icon along with the text, which we like but is not required.
One rendering of the logo should be able to fit in our web-app header space, which is 40px tall and roughly 200px wide (and the logo should be clearly readable at that size). We would also like the logo to be able to scale up for use on signs (like for a conference stall).
We are flexible on color palette. Our current site uses light, neutral colors (light blues, grays, light earth-tones, etc.), and we want to stick with a "light" overall design, so the logo should be designed for a light backdrop. We are open to suggestions for a palette (we're also ok sticking with the light blue theme currently on our site).
The winner of the contest will likely be asked to work with us on additional design tasks related to our upcoming web and print needs (so we have an overall design that is consistent with our logo).
Thanks and enjoy!
