Jeff Bond books
This logo will be for my author website. I'm looking for a logo that's relatively simple, classy but subtly intriguing. Here is a description of the books I write from the "About Jeff" section of my website:
"The stories I’ve settled on telling are thrillers. They read fast and typically involve interesting-yet-recognizable protagonists in tough spots. You won’t find zombies or serial killers or even Navy SEALs. I try to write the sort of book I seek out myself, every other week when I finish the audiobook I walk my 120-pound Newfoundland to: an intriguing setup, characters I care about, and a plot that won’t let me take the earbuds out."
So, in terms of audience, very broad. Readers across the board, both men and women.
As I mentioned, the current color scheme is black/red at jeffbondbooks.com. But I am open to suggestions and would certainly change if I saw a better idea.
I strongly considered going with homegrown simple text for my logo (see the attached image) because I don't want anything cheesy or over-the-top, but have decided it needs to look more professional. Please visit my website at jeffbondbooks.com to see the layout I'm working with. Currently I have a stock image of old paperbacks at the bottom of the page and black/red theme. I like these--it would be nice if the logo fit with the paperbacks image--but I am willing to change or scrap them altogether if a better idea comes along.
You can also cruise around the "Books" section to get a feel for the actual manuscripts I'll be putting out.
I honestly can't say what the logo will look like. I think some simple typography that communicates speed, depth, and excitement--"JEFF BOND books"--might be enough.
I could also see a subtle element creeping in. Woods, or a spooky staircase. I'm not sure. Perhaps somebody can come up with something simple and fresh based on the brief?
ADDED TO BRIEF: OTHER POSSIBLE IMAGES TO INCORPORATE.
ANXIOUS SILHOUETTE IN PROFILE.
DOOR OPENED JUST A CRACK, WITH SLIVER OF LIGHT SHINING
OUT, POSSIBLY ACROSS LOGO TEXT.
TWO FIGURES HIDING FROM (OR PURSUING) EACH OTHER,
POSSIBLY AT EITHER END OF LOGO. (NO GUNS OR
DETECTIVES, THOUGH.)
FACE WITH HAND OVER EYES, POSSIBLY PEEKING OUT BETWEEN
THE FINGERS WITH ONE EYE.
LONG HALLWAY, POSSIBLY WITH A FAINT LIGHT AT END OR
AROUND THE CORNER.
AND I STILL LIKE STAIRCASES, TWISTING OR OTHERWISE.
Also-- if a designer came up with a great logo that would work especially well with some other stock image (rather than the paperbacks image I currently have for background) they came across, I would have no problem switching to that stock image on the website.
Thanks so much! I look forward to seeing your designs, and want to thank you in advance for your hard work!
Best,
Jeff
