The company allows people to learn spanish through week-long programs of high immersion spanish language acquisition experiences and classes. During these weeks, students receive 20 hrs of classes, live with a host family that only speaks spanish, and have fun/adventurous/optional actionpacked pre-designed activities that they can do during their days off. As a result, students have a very accelerated learning curve and acquire more language capabilities than through traditional teaching. Although learning is important, you have to let the brain settle, so relaxing helps with assimilating learned subjects. As such, Friday afternoons and weekends are left free for students to explore the country. There are three main target markets: The first would be young adventurous folks, likely University students. The second category would be married couples (retired and non-retired) wanting to do something adventurous together. The third and final group would be retired couples traveling together. The bootcamp is located in a very rural, remote Costa Rican village, which translates to lower living expenses and savings for students. It also means that there is zero English spoken in this town. It is effectively a Spanish Language Bootcamp. It is a very vegetatively dense place that is nestled at the foot of a dormant volcano, volcan Miravalles. The town is called La Fortuna de Bagaces.
Here are some reasons why somebody would want to do this Spanish Language Bootcamp, sort of to help you have an idea of the target market: Price: Our services are considerably less expensive than competition. We can afford this because the town in which the services will be provided has a very low living cost. No nonsense and results-driven: Our target students want/need to learn Spanish and that is precisely what they will get. The company’s bread and butter is expected to be selling intensive high-immersion language acquisition experiences. Students go through Spanish classes on Mon, Wed, and Fri. They also have language-centered activities on Tue and Thu. They are also located in a non-English speaking town in addition to their homestay. This assures a maximum amount of time used towards acquiring Spanish. Students later have the option to do more typical touristy stuff on weekends, but can rest assured that their hard earned cash and valuable time will be spent doing what we advertise: Learning Spanish. Authentic experience: Students will live like locals and have a deep immersion. The option to homestay with a Tico family is appealing too. Beautiful region: very pristine and diversified region. Lots of fun activities nearby (Mountain biking, trails, llano de Cortes, other rivers/posos, Zip lining, etc). This is definitely mountain territory, at the foot of the miravalles volcano, but not too far from beaches and other attractions too. Passive/immersion language acquisition: some people prefer learning through experiences. We offer homestay, Spanish-only town, and language-centered activities in the community. Peace Corps similarity: We are trying to recreate the Peace Corps Pre-Service Training (PST) program. According to gringos, the Peace Corps has the best language program in the world. A lot of people will be attracted by the fact that the language program was inspired from the PC method. Also, some may like the Peace Corps feel of the operation (located in developing country, community-based activities including some volunteering, etc.) Costa Rica: It has a great brand. People love it. Learning Spanish in CR makes for a compelling argument. Getaway/Isolated town/Retreat: Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this town, nestled in the foothills of the Miravalles volcano, offers beautiful sites, places, and people to immerse students in a new state of calm and appreciation for life Partying/Diversion: town has bars and cantinas. Also has bailes comunales. Also has rodeos and torros. Also has rivers, hiking trails, hot springs where you can bathe, lagoons, ponds, and parties. One-week chunks: Experiences are sold in weekly packages. Students can plan trips around their “Spanish week” Easy offering, easy payment: What the company offers is clear and concise: Spanish language acquisition experiences/weeks. Depending on what the customer wants, she can easily add services to her shopping cart (# of hours of Spanish lessons per week, number of weeks, will she be needing a ride from the airport, etc.) and pay online with a credit card. No shady international transfers, no need in owning a paypal account, just insert credit card information and done, no surprises!
