Info over ons
Persian Viking Mineral Corporation Persian Viking Mineral Corporation is a Benefit Corporation registered in the state of Massachusetts, and operating out of a startup office in West Kabul, Afghanistan. PVMC allows consumers a source of coveted Afghanistan Gemstones and Minerals which they can feel good about. It is estimated that $3T in minerals exists under the feet of the Afghan people, however, with current business models in the extractive industry, it is highly unlikely that local communities will see that wealth translated into elevated living standards, jobs, community development or even good governance. Gems and Minerals purchased from PVMC will fuel all of these things and more, while providing world-class gemstones to high-end customers worldwide.

This logo is for a company focused on gemstones and mining in Afghanistan. It’s target clientele is western and high-end gemstone customers worldwide, as well as commodities and precious metals brokers. The website, or at least the sales/auction part of it, may be members only. I do not want to go with the obvious emerald green as many gem companies especially related to Afghanistan go that route. I am undecided between a purely black and white (greys/neutrals) logo, and one that includes some colors. If using color in the proposed design, please use a darker, muted/natural, masculine color and/or palette. (Deep blue, forest/hunter green, crimson/maroon, royal/rich/deep purple etc). No pastels or neons and I generally hate the color orange. This logo, if presented in color or colors, will have to also look good in monochrome, as it (or a part of it) needs to be used on a company stamp for use on all official documentation. (Nothing in af is official without a company stamp). The stamps are dark blue ink, and generally, circular (although not necessarily). A design that keeps this in mind would be helpful, although an actual circular design is in no way required.
Hi. Thanks for looking at my design brief! This logo is for my new company, Persian Viking Mineral Corporation (cut and pasted a long blurb about the mission and the focus etc in the other window). It is a tongue-in-cheek joke about my ethnic mix - I am the Persian Viking. In terms of the text on the logo itself, depending on design/style, and the interest of the image's balance, I am open to "Persian Viking" "Persian Viking Minerals" "Persian Viking Mineral Corp" or "Persian Viking Mineral Corporation" - including the longer versions so long as it doesn't make the overall design look messy. An "Est 2020" or "Established 2020" would be nice too. In terms of text, I like clean and classic and/or borderline old fashioned fonts. Something you might associate with a long-established high-end jewelry company, or a serious and professional industrial company. Nothing so old fashioned it become difficult to read or messy. Professional/contemporary/clean/trustworthy. Timeless. Nothing at all "cute" or cartoonish, please. The image part of the logo, as I am pitching it, has a bit of a sense of humor, and I don't want the entire logo to become super kitch or more trendy/flavor-of-the-week than classic/sleek/timeless/elegant. I'd like the other elements of the logo like the font and any embellishments to balance that part out. I am leaning towards a photorealistic or line drawing of a female viking-slash-miner character, based loosely on myself. (A few photos of me included in attachments) I do often wear a single or double braid in my hair, so that might work... anything similar to Lagatha's hair on the show Vikings with a mix of braids and loose would also work. No idea how to finish off the neck/shoulders so it isn't a decapitated head, or without going overboard on the viking battlewear shtick - that's where a great designer comes in. There might be a place to subtly include a nod to gems of some kind (earrings? some kind of neckpiece? gem as the torch lamp if it can be done un-cheesily?) but if that makes the design way too messy or campy or cartoony then skip it. It is a mineral company (and a benefit corporation) - so I would like some aspects of traditional mining company logos included, like a pick and helmet. To play off of the Viking theme, I was thinking the helmet could be a hybrid of a mining helmet and a Viking helmet, and instead of two picks or a pick and a shovel, the logo could have one pick and one battle axe (or other weapon). I'm not an artist so I hope I am describing this style I like well enough to visualize, and provided some good examples in the attachments section - photorealistic... tattoo-like... sketches or line work (see male viking example - more strong, less teenage diary)... Not cartoony, NOT anime style. Obviously including the mining and viking elements (and a gemstone nod if possible), without going overboard with either. Maybe tying parts of it together with viking tattoo style motif stuff? This logo is for general purposes (website, letterhead, biz cards etc), but also needs to go on a company stamp, which is necessary to do legal business in Afghanistan. Most stamps produced locally are round (I don't think that is mandatory, though) and use dark blue ink. Some amount of symmetry, or a logo design with some removable layers to simplify getting the stamp made would be a great consideration. Thanks for reading such a long brief. As you can see I have some strong ideas about the central elements of the logo. Within those parameters, though, I am open to all kinds of different things, and very much look forward to seeing what you come up with! I am committed to getting and using a great logo. I open this contest with the understanding that the winning artist will help me with small changes to your logo design (in particular modifying the logo to fit on a stamp, possibly by saving with a few layers removed, but otherwise providing what is needed to get your design to a printer to make things like stickers etc) No major redesigns, not asking for a FB cover or business card design for free or anything like that, but that stamp is Very important, and I'd like for it to look amazing! Best -Jill
