Hoe andrewott1 hun logo & een gehoste website begonnen
Als wie of wat sta je bekend?
Vertel ons iets meer over jezelf en de mensen die je bereikt
More than 6 million young adults in the US are out of high school, but they're not in college and they don't have a stable career. Meanwhile, companies are desperate to fill job openings in computing and software development. CodeSquad trains low-income students (age 18-24 primarily, but no upper age limit) to become successful software developers, then places them in internships with local companies. Students must have a high school diploma or GED, but no prior coding background is required. The target audience for our website includes prospective applicants to our program, but also corporations that may hire our interns, government and foundation funders, and potential partners at schools and non-profit organizations. So our logo and website need to feel young, tech-friendly, but also serious enough to mean business.

There is another organization based nearby that does similar work (see http://www.resilientcoders.org). I would like the CodeSquad logo and website to be visually distinct from their design since people confuse us enough already!
Wat heb je in gedachten voor de stijl en het thema voor de logo and hosted website?
I would like a young, clean design that feels like a startup company but also makes clear that we are a non-profit and will make good use of donated funding. No problem, right? I like a subdued overall color theme, but don't mind a splash of bright colors for emphasis (e.g. in the logo). I like reds most, but I'm flexible. I would like to incorporate photos from our recruiting events into the design, although so far we only have a couple pictures that we can use that are also good quality. I will share two photos as part of this brief. However, I would like the website to have a way to feature photos from future events.
I would like to send different segments of our audience to different parts of the site. For example, the navbar of our current website (http://www.codesquad.org) has a section called "For Businesses" which is targeted at hiring managers, and promotes the idea of creating a CodeSquad internship program at their company. Meanwhile, the section called "For Students" is aimed at prospective applicants to our program, and describes the financial and career benefits of learning to code and applying to our bootcamp. The section called "The Opportunity" is aimed at funders and potential partners, and talks about our theory of change -- that we train low-income students in coding as a way to break the cycle of poverty and launch them on a middle-class career. I like all these sections, but we need a more professional design than our current site.
