Design for Wine Tasting Tags for Wine Glasses

When hosting a wine tasting or wine party you typically need a lot of glasses for different people. With the new trend for stemless wine glasses traditional "wine charms" which hang on the stem don't work as well. I'd like an original design to mark up to groups of 24 wine glasses uniquely but with a pattern or design. The requirements are as follows:

* The pattern should be wine themed at some level
* It should allow up to 24 glasses to be uniquely identified in a memorable way
* It should be as "minimalistic" as possible, e.g., lines, simple shapes, simple pictures, minimal color palate essentially at the clip art level (though NOT just clip art)
* Each individual design should be visible and identifiable if printed within a 1 inch diameter circle
* Designs should allow easy identification of a person and a wine. As an example, picture a grid of 4 people by 6 wines. The first person might be an apple and the first wine might be a 1 from a six-sided die so the first picture would be a six-sided die with the 1 showing and an apple surrounding it, etc. Ideally the categorization scheme would flexible enough allow 2x12, 3x8, 4x6, etc but at least 4x6.
* Format should be a sufficiently high resolution or scaleable format that would allow shrinking to the 1" diameter circle up an 8x11 sheet without significant degradation. In the above example picture expanding the apple to an 4"x6" index card to allow that person to identify their set of wines as a table marker and their six 1 inch pictures identifying that person's wines.
* The final deliverable should include 24 individual images as well as any supporting or component images like the "apple" above as separate files and summary sheet with all 24 images on it in the 1 inch diameter spaces arranged on the picture
* The background must be transparent
* Though I think it is already a precondition of the competition, all work must be original and not previously copyrighted. I'll use a search in google images for all submitted designs to help me verify this

I received some feedback that the brief might not have been clear.

First, my intention is to use these as either stickers to stick on a stemless wineglass or engrave glasses so they are uniquely marked. That depends a bit on production and prices. The stickers will likely be transparent if I go that route.

Second, I'm looking for the images to be wine-themed and fun. I just slammed a couple cliparts onto a sheet for the first image to give an indication. The overriding goal of the stickers are to uniquely identify a glass for a person to remember which is theirs.

Third, if my apple - die wasn't clear, the next goal is to create an organizational scheme to support a wine tasting. For example if 4 people come to a wine tasting to taste six wines and label each person A through D and each wine 1 through six I could have 24 glasses each labeled with the combination A1 or D6, etc. The first sticker might be A1 but instead of really writing A1 use the Apple and Die theme instead. Similarly if 3 people come to taste 8 wines, etc.

Additional detail based on more 1:1 comments:
* The basic unit of delivery is hopefully 24 vector based illustrations/pictures/images.
* Ideally the images have a connectors across the set to allow say 4 or 6 wine tasters (apples) to taste 6 or 4 wines (die in my example) but all of the images should end up to be unique.
* In order to reduce to the 1" diameter circle, I'm looking for something more clean and symbolic (iconic style) in a small number of colors. Simple pictures are OK as the basis for a theme but again complexity will be hard to see that small.
