Wat is jouw visie?
I need a cover for an Amazon Kindle eBook. You can see the current cover here: http://www.amazon.com/Sand-Robbery-Frankie-Flatfish-ebook/dp/B005IKJCVU It uses an illustration from within the book, but it just doesn't work on the cover (and the typography is awful). The cover needs to reflect the content of the book, and contain the title and sub-title, author and illustrator name (as the current cover does). I've attached some of the illustrations from within the book so you can get a feel for the visual style of the book itself. I want something simple, colourful, clear and attractive. It could be based directly on one of the illustrations, but I'm open to alternatives. The design needs to comply fully with Amazon's guidelines for book covers, which you can read at: https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help?topicId=A2J0TRG6OPX0VM It needs to render well full-size, and when viewed as a thumbnail. That's about it, I think. Here's about half of the text of the book - a quick squizz will give you the idea: -- 3 -- It was a quiet day, just the usual fishes Swimming around and looking nutritious. I was having a nap (which I do when it's bright) When the doorbell rang and gave me a fright. "Frankie the Flatfish, private eye, at your service. Come in," I said, and she did, looking nervous. "I've been robbed at the bank. I need your assistance, I've heard that you're known for your brains and persistence." ... -- 5 -- As she told me this story she started to cry So I gave her a sponge to help dry up her eyes. I suppose I should tell you a little about her And why I'm a little bit sadder without her. Her name is Angel (which I think is delicious, Though really quite common among angelfishes.) With her lovely blue stripes she's ever so pretty, And clever and tough and funny and witty. -- 6 -- ... "Can you keep a secret if I tell it to you? And I told her "Of course, that's just what I do." "The jewels," she said, "were given to me by my husband, who died in the fish factory." I know it was wrong, but "She's single!" I thought My heart gave a skip and my breathing was caught. I forgot the lesson I learned from my dad (He taught it to me when I was a lad.) "Son," he said then, "keep your eye on the game, Steer clear of the ladies. Sea-horses the same." -- 7 -- She told me her husband (the late one, that is) Had some fishy connections in his line of biz. What he did for a living I didn't enquire How he died, I thought, was sufficiently dire. ... -- 8 -- "I think they were foreign," she said, "maybe Finnish, Or Pannish or Eyefish, or maybe Sardinnish. They yelled and they shouted, they really were crude, They were nasty and loutish, to me they were rude. After they'd taken all they could grab, They ran and escaped on a getaway crab." ... -- 9 -- So I swam to the Sand Bank and saw it surrounded By cameras and cops and I wasn't astounded To see two policemen, one pleasant, one mean, McRell and Remora, guarding the scene. ... The pair of them seemed to have nothing to do So I guessed that they didn't much of a clue. "Have you got any leads? Have you made an arrest?" I asked, but I saw they'd abandoned the quest. "The three of them vanished," said McRell with a frown, So I asked if he minded if I looked around. "Go ahead," he said, "we've already been though it So there's nothing to see." But I said that I'd do it. -- 10 -- It seemed he was right, there was nothing to see, Not a fin was dropped by the dastardly three. But then in the kelp just outside the bank I spotted a claw looking lonely and dank. It looked freshly shed, and unless I was wrong The getaway crab was to whom it belonged. I quickly secreted the portion of crab And went straight away to the DNA lab. -- 11 -- The fish at the lab was a slithery eel And listened with care to my urgent appeal. "We'll test it, we'll check it, we'll scan it as well, When we've got the results I'll give you a bell." The following day as I lay home alone The eel rang me up and I answered the phone. The claw belonged to Pincers O'Keefe, A notable villain and scoundrel and thief. "Pincers," I thought, "I bet I can spot him Down at the Sand Bar along Sandy Bottom." I tracked him down and I showed him the claw "I believe this is yours, and I'll tell the law." -- 12 -- ... -- 13 -- They were holed up, it seemed, in the Scaly Motel. We could tell we were near it because of the smell. They were floating there smoking and counting their loot. I netted them all before they could shoot. Dory and Pincers were full of delight She hadn't been harmed, but she'd had quite a fright. ...
