What we need is a set design for our new show. It will be printed on fabric and hung on the left and right side of our front curtain There will also be a piece above our front curtain (to cover the truss and the curtain rail.) Our curtain is a deep red color with gold fringe at the bottom. Your design will become the proscenium arch of the theater.
(Please see the first attachment to understand what we mean by a poscenium arch. We do not want this design, it's just to give you an idea of the term.)
In the first part of the show we want it to look like an old stuffy vaudeville (variety) theater with old posters, playbills, etc.. Very old fashioned and a bit run down. Lots of wood and brown, etc.
Then, in part two, new pieces of printed fabric will fall down over the first set and make it look like a fancy Vegas Showroom - lots of glitz and glamour (we can glue on rhinestones to make it sparkle.) Very light, lots of white, kitschy…
(Please see the second attachment. It isn't a theater but we want this kind of glamour.)
For each part of the show there should be two pieces of 4 x 4 meters for the sides and one piece of 8 x 0.55 m for the top.
In other words, for Part One (the old fashioned variety theater) we need 2 pieces of 4 x 4 meters and one piece 8 x 0.55 meters; and for Part Two (the Vegas showroom) we'll need 2 pieces of 4 x 4 meters and one piece 8 x 0.55 meters.
They should not be too busy (i.e. not too many different elements) and it should be very clear what it is supposed to be.
It's also nice if they look a bit 3 dimensional while actually being printed on a flat surface.
Sometimes our shows are outside with natural light, and other times we are in a theater with artificial lighting.
