Create a Book Cover for Ebook and Print Novel SERIES

Feral Dream

I need a book cover for my urban fantasy novel. This is the first of a series of books that will need a similar look/feel to all the covers. Whoever wins this commission will likely be my first choice for the future covers in the series.

Here’s the BOOK DESCRIPTION:

It’s been six weeks since the Angels of the Apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her 17 year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior angel who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued out of a desperate situation by a half-starved teenaged girl.

Traveling through the new desolation with only each other to rely on for survival, an unwanted and forbidden romance begins to bloom. Together, they journey to reach the angels’ stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies to get his wings back.

PLEASE NOTE: the girl is human. The guy is an angel. The story is told from the girl's point of view.

TARGET AUDIENCE: teenagers and adults who enjoy dark, fantastical stories with adventure and romance. The cover should appeal to mainstream readers as well as fantasy lovers. Ideally, it should appeal to both male and female readers but if you have to choose, choose female.

PLEASE NOTE: the cover needs to be eye-catching as a thumbnail.

One image that’s described in the book is a bloody feather nailed to a door. That is one possibility I like for a cover, just to give you an idea. I am not at all stuck on this concept. I am totally open to anything great you come up with.

Final dimensions: 6” x 9” (229mm x 152mm) for paperback book and an image that can look good cropped into a square for the ebook (the cropped image does not need to include all the elements)

Final delivery format: 1) a high quality TIFF, JPG or PNG for the ebook 2) a printable version of the cover for the 6” x 9” paper book, AND 3) the source design with layers in Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign
