We are doing "coffee table" books aimed at a general audience, measuring 8.5 x 11 in portrait format. Each book covers two of our photo collections (100 photos in each collection).
We're really looking for a single template for a whole series of these coffee table books, and we want to be able to implement each of the titles using PhotoShop 6.0. So what is needed is really just a rough layout, not print ready, but using only features available in PhotoShop 6.0.
We would like the Flying Kiwi logo to be fairly prominent on the front cover. To preserve the "look and feel" across our assets, we would want to use the Hand of Sean font for the text "The Flying Kiwi". We usually use Georgia as our primary font, but that's not necessary.
We don't currently intend putting a barcode on the book, but it would be nice if the design were flexible enough to add this later.
We currently planning on doing print-on-demand through Lulu, so I've provided their templates. They don't seem to have one for the spine?! I've also provided the text "The Flying Kiwi" in Hand of Sean font, as well as our logo and a photo from two of the collections. You can put these photos into whatever aspect ratio you want; our aesthetic throughout our product range is to crop tightly.
I've also attached our initial design for the front and back covers, which lack "zing", hence the reason for putting the project on 99designs.
The books are intended for people in the USA waiting in a doctor's or dentist's office. They should appeal all the way from kids up to adults. We can probably assume slightly higher than average income and education.
