Note: This is the second time I am running this contest because there were some technical glitches last time. Also, a lot of the designs were duplicated or “borrowed” from other designers. I am guaranteeing a winner this time + making the contest is “blind” this time around.
- I am open to any cover design that is evocative, eye-catching, and professional.
- If you use licensed material, please list how much it will cost me.
- Please draw artistic inspiration from the summary of the book below.
- It’s critical that the design looks as professional as other cover art on Amazon and iBooks.
- Also, the design size needs to be adaptable enough for the three formats to get onto Amazon, iBooks, and Barnes and Noble.
The obvious target audience is gay teens and hetero teen allies BUT should not be strictly a teen-focused design... I hope the book will appeal to liberal-leaning adults as well, particularly teachers, social workers, open-minded Christians, etc..
“Business tycoon-turned-reverend Steve Swenson denounces the Rainbow Youth Center as a bastion of sin, but his fire and brimstone isn’t enough to shut down Ocean View’s only safe haven for gay youth. Desperate for media attention, Swenson frames seventeen-year-old Cameron Caldwell’s gay brother for a crime that ignites community outrage. Cameron must get over his lingering homophobia and join forces with Kitty, a transgendered young woman, and other Rainbow Center teens if he wants to save his brother from prison and bring the reverend to justice.
Cameron and his oddball team soon learn from Nick, a state champion wrestler, that Swenson is running underground conversion camps linked to at least three teen suicides, including Nick’s younger brother’s. The next conversion is in a month. With no adults to turn to for help, the teens mastermind a plan to infiltrate the camp. As they work together, demons of their past surface, tempers flare, and an unlikely romance blossoms. When a tragic event compromises their mission, support comes from surprising allies—a reverend who believes God loves all teenagers and a high school Christian Saviors club.
“DEVIANTS AND THE DIVINE is a 66,000 word novel about a group of teens who overcome their individual struggles and unite to stop a zealot’s war on gay youth.”
