This is an Italian Moscato that has been imported into the US for a little over a decade. It has done well but is badly in need of an upgrade from the original design. La Perlina which means ‘little pearl’ was originally created to stand out on a crowded wine shelf. Today the image of the mermaid holding a pearl looks way too cheap and like a Disney character both in terms of the image and the colors.

The target audience would be 21-39 year old, urban consumers likely 60% female. It will be sold in both restaurants and in wine stores.
What we want to see – The two keys will be to keep the mermaid and the pearl. We are OK with a much less colorful and cartoonish mermaid and we are also ok if there is a way to emphasize the pearl more than it is in the current label - even if it reduces the impact of the mermaid. We are open to colors, but they should not be as garish and cheap looking as the current label. We are also very open to die cuts and foils. The overarching goal is to continue to have a label that stands out but looks far more elegant and expensive than what we are currently selling.
Wat te vermijden
Avoid garish colors and styles that make it look like a cartoon or cheap. It should look like a $20 bottle of wine not a $5 bottle.
