We sell grappa, gin and absinthe made in Brooklyn. What we hope to be our signature product in a year's time is chacha, a type of grappa from the Republic of Georgia. We envision this being popular among Georgians and the Eastern European community at large in New York and the East Coast of the US, but we are also looking to make inroads with hipsters and other drinkers curious about new types of booze. We want the label to look both earthy and eye-catching.
Wat inspireert je en hoe stel je je het ontwerp van jouw onderneming voor?
We would like a label design for our inaugural chacha that we aim to make our signature brand. It will be called Victorious Chacha, and we have in mind a design that frames the word Victorious in illustrated art nouveau frame either embellished with or made up of grape vines. I am very interested to see if this would work written vertically because it is a long word, however due to TTB restrictions on label design, a number of additional pieces of next need to be placed at the bottom of the label. Therefore, I'd be very interested to see versions rendered with Victorious written both vertically and horizontally. Familiarity with US label restrictions for distilled spirits would be a huge plus for this project, however we can work out some details at the revision stage. I have attached an extremely rough idea of how I imagine this looking, with the frame around "Victorious" ideally being much tighter to the word. In terms of color, I was thinking off-white as the background color, but other earthy tones like dark green also interest me. The liquid in the bottle will be either clear or have a slight yellowish tint to it and we plan to use wooden stoppers to close seal the bottles. Another idea I have had is to have the word appear in the sheath or on the blade of an ornate traditional Georgian dagger, called a kindjal (see attached image). I would also be interested to see designs along those lines or that include elements of this traditional Georgian style.
Also, at the very bottom of the label, by law, it must include the Surgeon General's warning in font larger than 2 mm tall, and it is generally preferred if the background for this warning is slightly different color than the rest of the label. The text of the Surgeon General's warning is as follows:
GOVERNMENT WARNING: (1) According to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects.
(2) Consumption of alcoholic beverages impairs your ability to drive a car or operate machinery, and may cause health problems.
