We have designed the labels for our first two releases. While we are happy with them and think they look cool (the feedback has been very positive), we feel there is something missing. We don't LOVE them. Is it the colors? Is it the 54ten logo? It is everything? We can't put our finger on it.
What we do know is that what we have is not perfect. Therefore, we are looking for the right label design with the right style, fonts, and colors to express our positioning of the brand.
While we are doing a whiskey, we DO NOT want the "old dead white guy" vibe. Most whiskeys are named after some old dead dude. And while we absolutely love many of those whiskeys, we are going for a different vibe. We want modern and edgy, meets southern sophistication. Our audience is not only traditional whiskey (bourbon) drinkers, but the hipster, high end club crowd as well. Think hanging out at the W, having a drink with the "cool crowd". (yes, we know the W is not a club, but you get the point). Think people who don't ordinarily drink whiskey.
We have attached our current labels for your reference. What we would like to see is twofold:
1. Take what we have and make it better
2. Trash what we have and make the coolest labels ever seen on the planet
Also attached is a pic as well as the spec sheet (PDF - so you have the measurements) of the bottles we will be using. The labels will be placed high on the bottle (like in the mock up pic) and should not be much taller (if at all) and can be no longer than the current one (the label meets perfectly when wrapped around the bottle).
Current design inspiration for us right now can be seen in the band Quiet Hounds (http://www.quiethounds.com). Notice how they have combined modern typography with a vintage feel and imagery. That is the vibe we are going for. Listen to the music as well...very cool.
I would like the colors to stay in the grays like the mockups. Also, we played around with adding the color stripe to a) make a statement and b) set off the different types of booze. Interested to see your take on it.
IMPORTANT: We want a design structure which allows us to modify the label slightly for each new product we release. Look at the attached mockups we did to understand what we mean. Please make it clear in your design and/or description which of the elements would change from product to product
IMPORTANT: We will need press ready art in AI and EPS format (along with jpeg preview files). We are going to be printing offset, so spot color values must be provided. Also, as an FYI, we are considering embossing one element of the label (the logo, perhaps).
IMPORTANT: All fonts used must be included at no charge. Or, if you find a font that we just absolutely have to have, let us know the price upfront and provide the link where we can download it
