Looking for a visually striking, distinctive, and timeless label design that is minimal and evokes a feeling of understated elegance.
This label design will be the building block which numerous other wine labels are designed off of. Whoever wins this design competition will have the opportunity to work on 3+ other wine labels we will be printing at the same time. We are also interested in numerous other branding items designed for print, web and other uses. Each year we will be expanding our wine offerings and will need new designs and updates.
The main “logo” for Carson Phillips does not include graphics or stylization but is simply the winery name, “Carson Phillips”, in a powerful and elegant typeface of the designers choice.
A monogram, on the front or back, is not necessary but could be interesting as long as it does not distract too much from the main name "Carson Phillips". We definitely want to keep the focus on the main name.
The typeface choice for “Carson Phillips” is important because this will be a main feature of the brand and will likely never be changed.
The design should be as timeless as possible taking a balance between classic/tradition, present/modern and the future. Some of these wines will be collected and enjoyed decades later and should not look “dated” many years from now.
The label could be a traditional 2 piece label or one continuous wrap around label (if a wrap around leave approximately 1 inch gap between the edges of the label ends) The label should measure 3 inches high and a maximum of 10 inches wide. (see our example label for reference)
We are planning to print on very heavy/thick white to off white paper with nice texture.
These labels may be printed using letter press, if so, the text can be heavily punched into the thick paper. If we use modern commercial printing, embossing and other techniques can be used to make certain text or features stand out.
The “Carson Phillips” name will be the most prominent feature of the label design and should stand out and be readable from a short to medium distance away, as it might sit on a retail shelf or table. The name “Carson Phillips” should be fully visible on the bottle when viewing it face on.
Foil/capsule: No need for you to spend time designing anything foil/cap related, we are planning to use a small amount of wax to seal the cork in. Wax color will be black or a color that best compliments the label you design.
