The site (http://www.theguitarjournal.com) has been around for 5 years, using the current logo which (you guessed it) was designed by me. I"m now looking for a professional level logo that can be confidently used in the media and on 3rd party sites, as well as on my own site and profiles.
The name, "The Guitar Journal" is a bit tricky because it's 3 words long. So:
A) I'm interested in the attached, vertical-stacked design. See handwritten example, loosely based on an idea from The Kennedy Center logo.
B) A modification of the current linear (left to right) design would be great too.
I'm not happy with the icon in the current logo. It's taken from the head stock of an acoustic guitar. I would like to keep this concept (unless the designer has another suggestion). But I would rather use a headstock design based on a Martin D-28 - the ultimate classic acoustic guitar. It feels for modern and clean.
The orange color was selected to resonate with the natural woods used in acoustic and clear-finish electric guitars. Something that feels earthy, classic, and organic, and yet stands out on the page. But...I'm not married to it. Please advise.
I've gravitated to serif fonts for the name because they feel more "classic" and "traditional", two key values for the musical instrument genre.
