LocalBuzz ( http://www.localbuzz.us)
LocalBuzz is the local expert, and a great online resource for finding information and insights on businesses and retailers. Every month we help many thousands of consumers find valuable local business information from driving directions and hours of operation to Web links and customer reviews.
We aim to be relevant & helpful for our users, enabling local businesses and consumers to find each other and connect.
We are a small, hard working team and we enjoy what we do and have fun doing it.
Our target market is mainly the US, but we would like a design which can work equally well in other English speaking jurisdictions (UK, Australia ).
The current site is due for a design revamp. Please use the existing design just as a reference point for functionality , nothing else. No pre-requisities in terms of company logo or colors, all elements of the design can be modified from the current version whilst maintaining the functionality as it is now (same functional elements such as search, maps etc. but their order / location on the page can be changed)
Feel free to be creative with the design, we want a fresh, new look in keeping with web 2.0 developments - simple to use, uncluttered, attractive, professional but at the same time modern (young & fresh)
Design needs to be pleasing on the eye (harmonic) , be intuitive and have a good balance between pictures & features
-- Need all PSD as well as TTF font files delivered
-- Optimize images for load time
-- Template/Design has to be CMS agnostic (can be used with ANY content management systems)
-- Navigational elements should NOT be images
-- Adhere to Usability and Accessibility standards (text navigation, optimized images, cross-browser compatible, etc.)
-- Standard elements like Footer, Header, Side Navigation should be:
-- In text, styled with CSS
-- Arranged in an easy to navigate experience
-- We understand CSS code not provided
So we are looking for DESIGN ONLY - No HTML
Generally we like the following sites
groupon.com (not really local search but its a clean, fresh & nice looking design)
http://local.yahoo.com - This looks OK but it is borderline a little too corporate / traditional perhaps ?
1. Homepage, including templates for About Us, How it Works and Contact Us
2. Search results page
3. Detailed Results Page
Existing site is quite basic / spartan
local.com - like the style & colors, quite clean
superpages.com - these guys are the market leaders
