Our website: meaningfullife.com - Your Spiritual Health Center, Offering Indispensable Life Skills. Contest: To design a new website for The Meaningful Life Center. The unique challenge is to create the perfect blend between a profound timeless, ancient, mystical, biblical system and a cutting edge, deeply and personally relevant application to modern and contemporary life. The mission of the Meaningful Life Center is to affect personal, societal and global transformation by empowering people of all backgrounds with transformation life skills. Our guiding principle is that meaning in life is the single most important human need. Based on this, we help men and women on all levels discover their personal mission statement in life and provide tools to actualize this mission, to make sense of the events in their lives and make every moment of life matter. Our new website, the primary platform for the Meaningful Life Center, is a comprehensive online information, broadcast and learning center, offering live and archived programming, together with materials in all existing formats – text/articles, audio, visual, multimedia, on every relevant life topic. The material is methodology-based and training oriented, and directed both to lay people and thought leaders. We provide insight and address all aspects of our lives - personal, spiritual, psychological, social and current events. All our programs are infused with warmth, relevance and empowerment. The spectrum of topics on our site include: Love and Relationships Personal growth/healing Family/home Business Education Arts and Entertainment Science and Technology Health/Medicine Politics/economy Judaism: Torah study Membership is a key element to cultivate commitment, involvement and interaction. All content will be cross referenced and allow for many different entry points, reflecting the diverse interests of different audiences. It will be a spiritual home where people can get daily inspiration, enjoy and share with their family and friends, do research, gather material for classes, look up the meaning to every aspect of life, and much more. Though, our content is sourced in ancient Biblical and mystical writings -- the Torah -- what makes us unique is the absolute universal and non-sectarian nature of the teachings. Like music, it is relevant, accessible and resonates with people of all walks of life, of all faiths or no faith. Our target audience We aim to reach every online user in the world by offering different levels of learning and inspiration to touch the souls of young and old, religious and irreligious, male and female. Different sections of our website are geared to different audiences (e.g. educators, parents). The lowest hanging fruit include: Personal growth and self improvement seekers. Spiritual seekers. Thought leaders. Psychologically inclined individuals. Mental health professionals. Clergy. People seeking advice and guidance in relationships, dealing with loss etc. Traditional, observant and unaffiliated Jews seeking a deeper and personal relationship with God, Torah and their heritage.
Ideeën voor stijl/thema
Since our objective is to engage a global audience, our website needs to feel relevant and welcoming to all groups of people, with special emphasis on the target audiences outlined earlier. The key operative imagery to capture our above stated organizational mission is warmth, intimacy, sensuality, mystique, resonance, music, bridge, home, nurturing, soulfulness, meaning, purpose. I'd like to explain a little about the logo since it has deep branding elements (based on mystical symbols) that should translate nicely into the overall website design. - The 3 drops represent the 3 point (triad) concept (an ancient hebrew vowel called a “segel”) which suggests balance, integration and harmony within diversity. Like a third path -- the spine, the center -- which creates equilibrium. In Kabbalah the three pointed triangle reflects the healthy of the human, the universe and the cosmos. See attached image. - The 3 elements inside, based on Kabbalah : left - water (chochma) - wisdom that flows down. Or chesed - love. right - leaf (binah) - to suggest growth/ ever expanding understanding. Or gevurah - restraint, discipline bottom - flame (daas) - to suggest intimate bonding, warmth and light, unity, always rising upward and striving for knowledge and growth. Or tiferes - beauty, harmony, the heart (at the center). -Overall the logo is meant to have an earthy and textured, warm, authentic, primal feel Objective of the website that should impact the style/theme: -To feel like your most comfortable place on earth, where you feel completely at home, nurtured like a child in a womb. - A site that looks and feels like resonating music. To get the visitor to want to explore, to stay, to bring their friends. - A place they can come to for solace and direction at anytime. (people have told us that when they can't sleep they go to our site for comfort). - Personal, approachable feel without overwhelming, without being heavy on details. - Simple, clear, timeless and versatile user experience - Not to overwhelm with information, give a taste, an appetizer, and then have everything ready if they want to explore further. Some themes that resonate: - A bridge between the body and soul, form and function, science and faith and reason, between spirit and matter, deeper meaning and material life, ritual and spiritual. - Timeless ideas and timely application. Any image that reflects the ethereal, the invisible -- the sense of belonging that anyone viscerally knows when they see it (without any explanation). - Large powerful images of nature - Child's face - Embrace - Emotion - Teardrop - Sprouting seed. - Capturing large concepts in a single image - in the words of William Blake - To see a world in a grain of sand...
The homepage should intrigue and draw in the user, showcase our mission and debut our top content. We have attached a wireframe of the homepage. Please don't feel tied to it though. It is divided into three sections, each part to appeal to different degrees of users. 1) TOP SLIDER - A new visitor, coming to our site for the very first time 2) 3 PORTALS - A searching visitor, one coming to our site with an agenda and looking for something specific 3) CONTENT RICH SECTION - Our experienced regular users who will see that there is fresh and relevant new content on the site. In our quest to find the perfect balance, we are open to suggestion and adjusting the wireframes. An example of an interior page is one that addresses a specific topic (eg. parenting). Attached is a wireframe. This serves to introduce an idea with short punchy text and compelling image. It should be a very sticky page, beckoning the visitor to view more and do more. The page should contain links to other resources, articles that will deepen the experience.
