We're looking for a new logo for our brand, as well as a one-page redesign for our site to help us appeal to more users and create more conversions.
We are a 1 1/2 year old service that provides free, full-featured websites to sports teams, from youth to adult leagues. We are developers, not designers, and our website is somewhat plain, old looking and utilitarian. We are looking for a new identity; something new to grab the attention of new visitors and convince them to take look and sign up for a site. We have more than 4,000 users and 2,000 teams signed up and had more than 2.3 million page views last year, and we are growing at a steady rate, so your work will be getting a decent amount of attention.
Please check out our website - freeteams.net - to see our current layout, logo, and what content we currently show on our front page. Our original idea for our logo was rotating sports equipment with the FreeTeams.net logo on there. We are looking for a more permanent, single logo that we can use in other areas as well, such as business cards. The logo is the more important of the two designs.
We are looking for a logo that really gives us an identity. Preferably a vector format or of very high resolution to use on multiple items of varying size (shirts, business cards, vinyl banners).
The second thing we're looking for is a one page re-design that can be used as a basis for the rest of our website. We prefer a width of 960px, but that can also degrade gracefully to 760px ( an un-ignorable portion of our users are not terribly web or computer savvy and still use IE6 and 800px wide monitors.) We are looking for something that will show the same info we currently present: our logo, a statement and call to action to sign up, a page menu, a login area (which we replace with 3 links when logged in), a featured team, sports we support, the most recent 4-5 blogs) recent team photos (2-3 photos out of the most recent 4-5 photo albums, including team name), and recent team news (a list of 10-15 team names and news headlines). Other than that, we don't have much in the way of colors or graphics that we're looking for. Feel free to flex your creativity on this. File format isn't much of a concern, but a .PSD is preferred.
Keep in mind that our users are very varied, from older parents running youth sites to college kids with a lot of web knowledge running their club's site, so please keep simplicity and usability in mind. Our users are mostly in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Australia.
