Aiuda -- a derivation of the Spanish word for help: ayuda (the two phonetically sound the same). And we want to help people!
We are an energetic and international team based in Monterrey (Mexico), San Francisco and New York, NY launching an innovative Web 2.0 service in Latin America. Our start-up is reasonably well financed (come on, who couldn’t have more?) but understaffed – it’s hard to find good people these days! But alas, 99designs saves the day! We had success with the creation of our logo on the site, and would like to beg and plead with the talented folks on 99designs to work with us to create a high profile consumer facing web site design for Latin America.
Our site, Aiuda.com, will offer a user-driven Web 2.0 service that utilizes the power of “crowdsourcing” to generate honest, current knowledge about local communities. Think along the lines of Metromix, Citysearch and Yelp, but better (in our humble opinion!). The basic idea is that visitors will be able to share their experiences with the world through user-generated online reviews about local businesses and events, and through direct interaction with one another, thereby creating a highly comprehensive city guide and social network based upon real life experiences. It’s how we get there that is going to be interesting…
Aiuda.com will initially serve the Mexican market but, over time, will expand to serve all Spanish-speaking Latin American markets. The target user base will be Spanish speaking 18-35 year old urban/semi-urban internet users who leverage “word of mouth” as a source of knowledge and insight about businesses and events within their local community before committing the acts of “trying and buying.” We anticipate our core users will be young-ish, energetic, always exploring new things and "in the know" about their communities and surroundings. Additionally, the English language version of the site will be geared towards expatriates living in Mexico and Latin America as well as foreign tourists (you were dying to know where the best taco place in Cancun was, right?)
We are looking for a creative, fun and professional home page design (2 pages, one for visitors and the other for registered users). So take a walk on the wild side!
What we are after for the look and feel of the site:
o friendly and inviting start page
o easy and intuitive navigation
o engaging for first-time users
o trustworthy and reliable source of information (we want to be THE medium for providing honest, current information that is useful)
o colorful and bright (what comes to mind when you think about the diversity and color of Latin America)
With respect to the business nitty gritty, we need to accomplish a few things which we want to be easy to do/evident on the homepage:
1. Entice visitors to register for an account so they can get in on the action
2. Encourage people to write reviews about their experiences!
3. Encourage people to add businesses we missed
4. Get local business owners involved in the community (and eventually pay us for services)
- 2 pages (home page versions for visitors and registered users) in layered PSD format.
- Incorporate our logo
- Please use attached color scheme in design considerations
- English copy is fine!
Other design notes: Please use the attached mock-up for inspiration and guidance on the “site elements” we need, but don’t feel limited by it and let your creativity flow!
