HealthCastle.com - http://www.healthcastle.com/
Health Castle is the largest online nutrition community run by registered dieticians.
Our site offers a large array of nutrition tips and articles as well as pocasts, videos, and recipes.
We strive to offer all the information necessary to help individuals live healthier.
Health Castle is focussed primarily towards health conscious individiuals between the ages of 25 -55. The majority of our viewership is female with some male viewership.
Because our target demographic is predominantly older, the site should be easy to navigate and all information should be easy to read.
The new website is not meant to be a re -brand but rather a re - design. We want to stick to the same colour scheme while providing a fresh and modern look with easy to use navigation.
We require a home page and secondary page ( category & article page) based on the following wireframe guidelines:
http://tidalmultimedia.com/healthcastle2/
The design should also follow the 960 Grid System - http://960.gs/
1
The page we need designed is the homepage. The requirements for this page are specified in the wireframe.
http://www.healthcastle.com/ - Should be used as a reference site for colour theme but we do not want the exact same look and feel that we currently have.
Left Menu
- Like the contrasting black block with white text
- Like the alternating dark brown / light layout in the left menu
- Contrasting makes it easy to distinguish elements
Right Menu
- Like the Search Recipes block as it is simple to read and not cluttered
- Like the black Subscribe block as it is high contrast and draws attention
- Contrasting design makes it easy to distinguish elements
Do not want a copy of this website but we like the design elements in it.
http://www.grist.org/kingdom/food - * Like they show more description for the most recent articles, and decreasing details for older articles. Also like the bottom design. (dislike color scheme)
http://www.cookinglight.com/ - * Love the clean, mouth watering design on home page. Drop down menu is a bit too simple, but still works.
http://www.cookinglight.com/eating-…000067646/ - * Like the super big images
http://www.eatingwell.com/healthy_cooking - * Like top of website, kind of like healthcastle.com with search function near the top
