We’re looking for an elegant site design for Spinal Injuries Association.
It will provide ‘about us’ information, articles and information for members, facts about spinal cord injury, educational information, and instructions for donations.
Spinal.com.au
Spinal Injuries Association is a charitable organisation in Australia. It provides information and support to people with spinal cord injuries. The website will offer information about the spine, how it can be injured, and how to prevent injury. We’ll provide educational material, and news releases. We’ll ask for donations and participation from our visitors. We require the logo and Quality Assurance logo on the home page please - not too big and down the bottom might be best.

Quality Assurance logo: http://www.tailored.com.au/spinal/QA-logo.gif
Top level menu:
- Home
- About Us
- Our Services
- Information
- Education
- How You Can Help
- In The News
- Work with us
- FAQ
- ResourcesI imagine the menu should be to the left of a 2 or 3 column layout. Given the size of the menu, I don’t expect it will fit in a top horizontal design. We’d also like a ‘Featured’ block available for a graphic announcing special upcoming events such as a Gala Dinner, Spinal Awareness Week, etc.
We will offer a “What’s New” block of text for each ‘area’ of the site. Eg, if you are in the “Education” page or any subpages, this “What’s new” block should tell you that the ‘injury prevention’ page was recently added.
This could go in the left column below the menu, or it could in a 3rd right column. We’ll rely on your creativity to see what looks good.We could have a header block, with the logo, a search box, and a donate button. Again, use your creativity.

Update from client:
Would rather see lots of great photos of people who use wheelchairs doing empowering and also everyday life things on the homepage. Homepage needs to reflect that we’re all about rebuilding lives and empowering people.
Probably stick with green as the theme colour but overall would like to see them looking a bit more colourful and exciting. Maybe a banner of photos/images across the top with the logo?
Would rather just a couple of paragraphs on the homepage welcoming people to our page, introducing the Association and briefly outlining what we do. All the more detailed info. about who we are and what we do etc. will go on the ‘about us’ pages. Hopefully this frees up room on the homepage to include 6 (or more?) updatable feature blocks/boxes/areas.
We’re also looking for more of a friendly, interactive, interesting look promoting our ‘caring and sharing’ not-for-profit nature. Still professional looking but not so corporate looking.
- Elegant and energetic design
- Menu should support dropdowns on hover for subpages
- Should be a two column layout – possibly a 3 column layout
- Menu should be vertical, in the left column
- Every page will have a “Donate Now” button
- Room for a basic “Search” field
Deliverable is only the PSD.
